Le Sigh

My sister went to the hospital the other night. She was getting some really, really bad cough attacks. To the point that she was driving everyone crazy to the point of wanting to rip her throat out so there could be peace and quiet in the house again. After two hours of dealing with rude nurses and a doctor that was so fresh out of medical school the ink wasn’t dry on the diploma, she was diagnosed with Bronchitis. She’s got meds for it, I don’t because I’m no longer covered under my dads insurance and an E.R. visit without insurance is 2g’s that I don’t have. Being as her and I share the same symptoms (only mine are a bit worse) it’s obvious that we’ve both got the same thing.

I think I get worse as the days go on. I’m self-medicating with Dayquil and Nyquil just to help me through the congestion. I’m not really coughing very much but thanks to having to blow my nose as much as I am, I’ve got nose bleeds up the wahoo that I just can’t seem to kick. There’s enough DNA in my garbage bin to link me to quite a few crimes on Long Island.

I picked up a few decent clients this week so I’ll be able to afford all the medication I’ll need until I can get rid of this damn bronchitis. I’ve been spoiling myself with iced tea and peppermint life savers. Why? Because sick people have bad breath and not even brushing three times a day can fix it. I bought my sister a bag of life savers too.

For now, I’m going to curl up with my book and hopefully fall asleep within the next hour because my eyes are burning so bad I’m afraid they’re going to melt out of my head.

Night all

    hope you feel better soon.
not having insurance sucks, as does learning that the hard way. i wish i had appreciated insurance when i was still covered, and got all the “sick” stuff out of the way then.

I don’t what I would do if I wasn’t still on my father’s insurance. I’m sorry you are still sick and I hope the medicines you have willl start working soon.

Well I’d steal portions of her medicine at little at a time until I had enough to get me better. Because like if you take half and she takes half then she has to go back to the er and get more, you both will have a full dose. So I’d make her suffer right along with me the entire duration or lock her out. If you can stand it try to drink as much oj as possible for the vitamin c if not get some airborne and take it on top of everything else. that way you can build the immune system back up. I’m contemplating taking it just so I don’t get this crap again.

oh and while your sister is sleeping all peaceful and not coughing kick her a few times in the ribs. when she wakes up and has no clue why her ribs are hurting attribute it to all the coughing and tell her she might need to go back to the er because it is very possible she cracked a rib due to all that coughing she was doing. take satisfaction in the kicking and the fact that she has to sit at the er for several more hours:)

I’m really sorry that you’re still sick, hun. Bronchitis is nasty. :/ Make sure to rest up, drink lots of water. I know what you mean about nose bleeds. When I got out of the hospital, I couldn’t even move my head, ’cause everytime I did, my nose would bleed. Nose bleeds = suck. Hopefully you get rid of it before it gets worse. Feel better, lovely.

  9. Maz says:

Aww sorry about you & your sister being sick, hope you both get better.

Take care with that bronchitis, that’s nasty. I can’t get my head around needing health insurance for such a serious condition, but we pay tax for such things so it’s not free.

Dang, Krissy. 🙁 I’m sorry to hear about that. Coughs are the worst. I had a 103?Ǭ? fever about a month ago and had to get a shot in my ass because I apparently had some type of throat infection. Hope you feel better and can get those meds soon!

I just got over strep throat, I also had a nasty nasty cough with it as well that lasted well over 3 weeks. It was terrible. I’m sorry that your health care costs so much, just move to Canada and you’ll get better faster.

I would’nt advise on sharing medication with your sister, though it does sound tempting, as she can always go back and get a refill perscription. You could be illergic to it and have a bad reaction, I know of someone who took some of their girlfriends medications and ended up in the hospital even worse.

I hope you feel better, It sucks when you get sick and you don’t have insurance, I’ve been there.

  15. Tara says:

Oooh I had bronchitis at the beginning of college and wow do I know how nasty it is. You really need to get some antibiotics for it, I was also put on a cough supressant to stop the violent coughing attacks. Really hope you can get it sorted soon, its not something that’s really going to just go away.

  16. Bronnie says:

Aww hope you feel better soon love!!
I can’t believe it costs you 2 grand to go to hospital! It’s free here – all you pay is the medication. Of course, if you go to a private hospital it costs you.
But it’s slowely changing here because annoying un-wanted foreigners try and turn up here pregnant and give birth here for free and then the kid is a NZ citizan! ARGHHH
And that kills off a hospital bed for a sick NZer. It’s nuts. lol.
    BUt anywho, get better!! 🙂

I hope you & your sister both get better!

  18. Sean says:

Aww I hope your feeling better, I don’t like it personally but I hear chicken soup is good LOL.

  19. Christie says:

I can’t believe you’re still so sick hun. If you lived closer, I’d let you use my bath. I know how much you miss taking baths lol. Maybe also try advil cold & sinus before sleeping. That always helps my sinuses clear up a bit. I’m sure after taking so much of those other dayquil things, you’ve become immune to them. So maybe try the advil and see how that works. Feel better.

  20. Nick says:

Oh my gosh Krissy! That sucks babe. I hate not having insurance. I seriously only had to pay $3 a visit because of my whole union thing, but now it’s a bunch more because of the stupid effing strike. You’ll get better hon! Hang in there.
    XOXO
