Bored

I found this while surfing through blogexplosion. I figured since I haven’t updated in a while it was time to post something.

1. What do you think might be the next great discovery we will witness?
My aunt’s real hair color.

2. What do you feel are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
Strengths – Flexability // Weaknesses – Gag reflex

3. Why do you think your last relationship failed?
It’s only over because he’s dead :(

4. If you could change careers, what would you do instead?
Yea, I’ve always wanted to see what FICA does with my tax dollars.

5. What was the first work of art you saw in person that really impacted you?
This girl in pre-school drew this amazing circle with a square in it…changed my life.

6. When you were a child, where did you find solace? And now, as an adult, where do you seek it?
I used to hide under the bed with the little green monsters. I’d go under there now, but the bed is just too low to the ground to get under there.

7. To what degree do you think fear or insecurity impacts our abilities or success?
:: yawns :: huh?

8. Oh, no. There?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a fire. What do you take with you? (Other than photos, animals, or people.)
The little blue box under my bed. Just because there’s a fire doesn’t mean someone can’t steal your identity!

9. [Fill in the blank] makes my head explode.
Stupid survey’s like this

10. Most people wouldn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t guess that I [fill in the blank].
Have a crush on you.

Hiatus = OVER!

Posted on June 14, 2006 @ 8:51 pm by Krissy // Link It

So I finally have my laptop back. It’s so much easier to get things done now. I’m not stuck in the living room, I don’t have to listen to the dog running up and down the hall, and I don’t have to listen to the little bastard spawn of Satan in the end apartment bouncing off the walls.

I almost didn’t have this tonight though. The FedEx shipping information told me that the estimated arrival time would be 3pm. So, I figured I could sleep in a little bit and wake up at 9 instead of 7. Well…that was my mistake. FedEx showed up at 8:30 this morning, left the note on my door and scuttled off. The ticket said that I could pick it up after 6:15 from the FedEx facility in Hicksville, so I talked my sister into a little 20 minute road trip and now I’m home with my baby :pets:

Everything is running smoothly. HP updated the BIOS for me as well so I thought that was nice of them. I was surprised to see that I still had 100% battery life considering it hasn’t been plugged in for 6 days. Then again, I took it right off the charger and popped the battery out before I put it into the box so I guess that had something to do with it. The only thing I’m having trouble with is getting used to the keyboard again. My wrist is cramping up but I think that’s just based on the fact that I haven’t really typed in a few days.

I have about 10 proposals to go through and another three to write up. I need to get back to a few clients about things because it’s been a few days since they’ve heard from me. I DID email them letting them know that I was going to be MIA so that should all be taken care of now. I’m writing up one for a big job and it should bring in an easy $2500 so that will be more than enough for me to get a new desktop and definitely a new printer. I want to get an all-in-one that’s connected through the router so that everyone’s computers can finally have a printer instead of them using mine. I figure I can just throw it in the living room and hook it up directly through that line, and then everything else is wireless.

My sister wants a computer, and I told her that with the way business is going that as a birthday gift to her I’ll go 50/50 on one. She doesn’t care what it is as long as she can sit comfortably in bed and still be able to watch TV so I can either get her a desktop with wireless setup or I’m just going to get her a cheap laptop. She insists on a DVD burner though. She’ll never be able to tap into any resources to burn movies, and doesn’t know enough about computers in order to even find said resources so that one is an ‘iffy’ if she wants one that bad she can get an external one and hook it up herself.

In any event, I have some work to do and need a quick cig in order to get me back into concentration mode. I’ve started to return comments but haven’t gotten around to everyone. I will soon though, I promise.

Yippie!

Since everyone else is asleep I figured it would be a good time to pop online and check my email. Based on the one I received from HP, my laptop is on it’s way back to me! Thankfully, by this afternoon, I’ll be back into the swing of things.

I can finally get some work done. I have a lot of proposals to look through, a couple to write up and a few hosting accounts to setup that I couldn’t do from this computer. It’s hard to setup reseller accounts when you don’t have access to the right programs. I like to see proposals building up, it’s a good feeling knowing that I’ve got a heap of work coming my way.

It’s my goal in a few months to get a new desktop. I’m not going to go crazy on the modifications because it would really only be used as a back up. So I have no intent of getting anything more than a gig of ram, fairly new processor, 80gig hard drive and only a 128mb video card. I can get a system like that for under $500 so I’m definitely not complaining. Hell, I was even considering an E-Machine just for kicks, but I won’t stoop to that level, I’ll stick to HP/Compaq.

I’m still waiting for FreePay to process my digital camera form. It’s been two weeks so I’m to a point now of just being annoyed by it. I’m going to give it until Friday and then if nothing changes I’m going to email them and ask what the hold-up is about. After talking to Jackie (the only REAL photographer in the personal site world, not the point-n-shoot cam shit that everyone does) I’m going to get the Olympus, it’s more like an SLR which is exactly what I was looking for, the stats on it are also a lot better than I’d originally thought. It’s the 8 mega pixel, the Fuji is the 9 mega pixel but considering the bulk of the images will never be larger than 1024×768 – I really don’t think there’s going to be a difference. So I’m certainly anticipating this one. I know that Alicia wanted professional looking engagement images so hopefully this cam gets here before they get married in November 2007, yea…that’s just how long FreePay seems to take these days heh.

In any event, it’s about 1am and I know that I need to be up in 7 hours so I’m going to head off and get some sleep. I guess the ‘hiatus’ message just wasn’t needed at all, I honestly didn’t think I’d have any time out here where I’m not dealing with the rest of the family breathing down my neck. I’m definitely on hiatus from WORK but thankfully that will change after FedEx gets here tomorrow afternoon – yay!

Night all.

Hiatus Update

Posted on June 12, 2006 @ 9:06 pm by Krissy // Link It

My desktop is officially dead. I’ve run all of the diganostics that I possibly could and after all of my work the only possible things wrong with it are either the video card or the mother board are some how corrupt. Instead of spending the money there, I’m just going to buy an external HD case and plug my hard drive into it so I can get my files. Then I’ll basically be scrapping my desktop for parts because eventually when I get the rest of the $1800 offers to go through, I’ll just buy myself a new desktop. I configured one at HP.com that’s only going to cost me about $550. I don’t need a monitor, or anything special I just need the desktop. Hell…I don’t even need the hard drive but unfortunately you have to get that too.

My desktop was basically a bastard since day one. Joe spent a lot of time and effort getting it to run properly and now I find it a bit weird that literally 3 months after his death the computer is dead. The only thing original on the desktop (from when I had it built 4 years ago) is the RAM and the DVD Player. Everything else on this thing was new. The mother board, the graphics card, the processor, the hard drive, and cd/rw, the case, there’s about 10 fans in there…it’s just unfortunate.

I’m positive the hard drive still works because not only is it only a year old but it’s also loading up as a slave drive to the computer in the living room. Unfortunately there’s not enough ram on this computer in order for me to actually do anything. That mixed with the fact that this is the first time I’ve been able to get online since Friday afternoon, thanks to no one being home breathing down my neck.

My laptop just reached the HP service center and the estimated return date is the 20th, which I doubt will actually be the case because it shouldn’t take that long to pop out the screen and then clean off the blot. So hopefully I’ll have it on Friday instead of the 20th, that’s really what I’m shooting for right now.

I’ve been bored out of my god forsaken mind for the last three days. It’s got nothing to do with my lack of ‘internet’ because I really could care less about that. It’s my lack of ability to do any WORK because when I’m not working I’m usually itching for things to do. I’ve read three books, watched a few DVD’s that I’ve seen a thousand times before and I’ve hand-written enough private journal entries to the point that my hands are cramped up like no tomorrow. It’s really annoying. I’m considering sleeping later than 7am but then when I do have my computer back I won’t be able to wake up in time to punch in, so there goes that idea.

Thanks to WordPress, I’ve basically pre-posted the next month’s worth of The Mobile Meme so that posted early this morning. I’m working on setting up a mailing list that’s connected to WordPress so that particpants are emailed (optional of course) whenever the new article is posted. So if you do happen to be a Mobile Meme member, head on over there and fill out this weeks meme.

In any event, people are starting to come home and I really don’t want to deal with any of them so I’m going to head back in my room. I will return any and all comments as soon as I can get out here for more than 10 minutes. I’m going to say sometime tomorrow because Dad and my sister will be at work and I’ll be able to sit here and concentrate.

Later gators.

Unfortunate Hiatus

Posted on June 9, 2006 @ 9:21 pm by Krissy // Link It

I sent my laptop into HP to get it fixed. I figured I’d just be able to move to my desktop to get some work done there. However, my desktop isn’t turning on. It won’t even load up to the BIOS so I’m going to be with out a computer for about 10 days. I’ll randomly check my email when I can get the chance to be on the living room computer but I will be unable to do any work until my laptop has come back, unless I can get my desktop actually working for me.

This is basically my official notice to clients because I’m unable to access my outlook express to get any email addresses. If you need me, email girl@krissy.nu I should probably be checking that about once a day. After that, there’s nothing I can really do.

I didn’t want to go on a hiatus from things, but I guess 10 days of no work won’t be such a bad deal. I won’t have any money coming in but there’s nothing I can do there I guess.

I’ll talk to everyone soon.
