Website Overview: ProfileBuilder.com

Important Note: When being asked to review a website, paid or not, I treat it as though I’ve just come across the site on Google and then give my opinion from there. Price tags do not, by any means, sway my opinion on a sponsored entry. This is something I would like for the sponsor to keep in mind. Through me, you will receive my 100% honest opinion on your product and I remind you that this is what you’ve asked for.

This review is based on ProfileBuilder.com

ProfileBuilder is an online identity management platform athat allows anyone to take complete control of their online identity, so that they can establish a consistant profile across the web, manage what people know about you, present the specific information that different types of people see, enable people to easily find out more about you and track when and where your profile is accessed.

At first glance this site kind of looks like Myspace. I’m not sure how secure your personal information could really be on the internet considering how many instances of people hacking into accounts there have been in regards to sites like myspace and facebook – that I’ve read about at least. When I say that it looks like myspace, I’m not talking in regards to it being overrun by emo children, I’m talking more in regards to how their “preview” profile looks. It’s free to use this site you can supply as much or as little information as you desire. I’m not going to say it’s a social networking site either.

A description that I came across says:

Online identities can be created, managed and consolidated with Profil.es, a breakthrough web product that gives individuals a centralized platform to manage and enhance their online presence. Users can customize their Profil.es and control visibility and access, while tracking in-depth stats on performance and activity. A unique Profil.es icon can easily be added to emails, blogs, websites and anywhere HTML code can be placed – including sites such as eBay, MySpace, Facebook and Match.com. Currently in beta, Profil.es was created by Profile Builder, a company that develops products to enhance your online identity.

So I guess it’s just one of those new sites out there that are looking to hit it big, I’m sure in the long-run they’ll do ok. As of right now they aren’t overly interesting to me considering my distaste for the social networking world.
