The Random Daily BS

I didn’t really accomplish much today as far as work is concerned but I believe that’s based on the fact that I’ve been doing A LOT of converting so I can at least have ONE computer that’s completely up and running.

I went to setup my external hard drive on the iMac but for some reason it wasn’t formatted with the FAT32 setup so I had to transfer all of the files off, format the hard drive, then transfer everything back to it. Once that was taken care of I went out of my way to finally get the external networked again. I was able to see everything on the Vista system in the kitchen but XP decided not to give a shit that there’s even a drive on the Network. So I found a program (not sure of the name, I’m on Vista right now) that allows me to share files with XP and it took two days for me to get it working so I can see everything when I’m on my laptop. Right now that’s locked in the office with Sean (not sure what he’s doing in there) so I’m on the desktop in the kitchen just to do a quick email check, blog and maybe some commenting considering I’m very far behind on it these days.

Now that all of the Network stuff is taken care of I needed to get all of my email back online. So I installed Thunderbird and then went through the daunting task of getting all of my email onto the mac as well. Everything is still networked through the external so I can at least check my email on the laptop but my need for a total transfer was thanks to Sean. He insists on having 200 hard drives and what the network was formally recognizing as the E: drive on “Krissy” is now his 500GB hard drive in my old desktop. So I had to not only setup the email from the external but I had to transfer it all in from the desktop as well because he booted Thunderbird and it downloaded like 3 weeks worth of email to HIS hard drive. Either way it’s all fixed and I’m able to get to everything I need to.

I’ve been playing around in Photoshop a lot because lets face it, the best thing about Mac is it’s design abilities. I’ve come up with what I think is a fairly decent template for January, kind of a minimalist scrapbook setup but it’ll work out pretty well. Unfortunately I can’t complete it until later on in the week but that depends heavily on whether or not we take the trip down to Ocean City and snap some pictures. It’s kind of a “Where am I now?” type of thing and naturally a picture of Sean and I on the beach in O.C. will complete the look. If not? I’ll figure something else out I’m sure.

I have quite a bit of crap to finish up around the house. The kitchen is in desperate need of a cleaning before Christmas (lots of cooking going on this week). I found some presents tucked away that need to be wrapped before I head up to NY at the end of the month and I need to do some quick Walmart shopping to finish everyone else off as far as candy and little odds and ends are concerned. I’m also running low on some things for Bella, and while in that isle I figure I’ll pick up some stuff for Princess and Candy. Unfortunately they can’t really have any kind of treats but I was thinking water bowls to allow the humans to regain the larger plastic bowls, and Princess has only one bed that needs to be brought back and forth from Karen’s room to the living room so I’m thinking of picking one up for her for Christmas as well. I found a cute one that looks just like a couch but she likes to sit up straight on the arms of a couch and something tells me the foam isn’t going to be able to support her 25lb frame when she does that – it’ll basically be a constant “Flip the Puppy” going on in her corner – heh.

I’m going to do a lot of baking this year. I’m making a platter for Karen to take to work – filled with cookies, cup-cakes and other little candies. From there I’m making a few things out of my Hershey Cookbook for Christmas and I’m probably going to take some things up to NY with me as well – this is well before the “Candy Kitchen” run to pick up some fudge – it’s damn good there.

Dinner will consist of a Brown Sugar Spiral Ham with all of the trimmings. Sean’s content with mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and biscuits – I’m personally not but that’s why it’s going to be “all the trimmings” for everyone else.

In any event, it’s about two in the morning and I’m beat. Which is surprising considering I woke up at like 2 this afternoon. I didn’t officially fall asleep until about 7am so I guess that had something to do with it.

Christmas baking is always the best! my favorite is toffee, its not Christmas until I have had a good piece of my mom’s homemade toffee! mmm!

PST: Try creating named shares for the different hard drives. Instead of referring to the E drive attached to particular computer, share it as MailDrive or something easy to remember. The computer hosting the drive will keep it mapped properly, even as you rearrange other drives on the system.

  4. I got real tired of my PC crashing over and over ($40.00-$60.00 each time) .
Now I’ve got a mac and It’s a MUCH better system. you can work several windows at a time and no crashes!
    Also it’s very user friendly.
I don’t think I’ll ever regret getting it! James

  5. I agree Mac is the way to go. Period.. But, I still have not switched.
