Tonight’s Breakdown

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

I have a whole list of things that I need to get done before my head hits the pillow tonight. I’m four hours away from doing my 24 hour run and while blogging has cut down because of the fact that the Tuesday prize has already been given away – I’m still working on everything I possibly can to get everything in order. I admit that I’ve been slacking on getting the template for Ranee coded, but I can say I’ll have that done tonight, I’m going to start coding everything over to WordPress as soon as I’m done posting.

I won a bid on GAF a few moments ago so that’s another thing I’m going to have to get started on afterwards. I’m converting a site over from PHP to HTML which to me makes no sense but it’s easier for the client to edit everything so that’s the route to take. I’m waiting on a write-up from another client and then hopefully after all has been said and done, I can get myself to sleep by midnight – 2am at the absolute latest.

Baby fell asleep a little while ago, he’s battling an ear infection at the moment so he’s hasn’t been in the most chipper of moods. This afternoon I took a break after I last posted to do some things around the house. I wound up taking a walk to the mailbox with Bella so she could get out and enjoy the sunlight.

It’s beautiful outside during the day here. There’s so many birds chirping and flowers blooming that sitting inside is starting to get to me. The problem is that Baby can only really concentrate at night when he’s working so it’s hard to get on a balanced schedule for him, he just winds up sleeping during the day. I’d like to be outside more during the day, it just sucks doing it alone when you want to spend time with him, you know? Maybe by the time things take off with him we’ll be able to sync up again. Something to look forward to.

Okay, so I’m going to get my ass in gear on everything I have to do. This way I can do my two-miles before I go to sleep. Bella seems to enjoy it, she marks her territory every 10 feet it seems, it’s kind of funny heh.

Camping

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

PPP Baby likes the idea of traveling, as do I. The one thing I’m not too keen on is the woods. While I do love animals, I don’t like ones that can skunk you down or rip you up. I also don’t like the idea of bugs bigger than my face. But, he likes to camp and has gone to Pennsylvania a few times to do it. He runs down his list of supplies and is so proud of his leica binoculars it’s kind of funny.

I had no idea what he was talking about but when I came across Eagle Optics and looked them up, it kind of made sense. It’s easy to be proud of a pair of binoculars when you spent over $1,000 on them. That’s kind of pricey for me, I’m used to the Fisher Price ones I was using until recently (Yea, those puppies last!). I did find a few cheaper pairs in the $30 range on this site, that’s more of my cup of tea. :mm tea:

Eagle Optics is a good source for buying things like this because they have low prices, great customer service, an excellent selection and free financing on orders over $200. So if you’re dropping over $1,000 on a pair or two of binoculars, this is the place to go.

So looking through here for a while, I may wind up going with a simple pair from Audubon. They seem to be pretty decent and they’ve got one that’s even waterproof. Oh joy, I can watch the sharks appear closer than they really are…lol

Damn!

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

So I kept pretty close watch on the opps today and didn’t see anything big show up. I was expecting to see a post that had like $1,000 listed to it the way people did in April, but that wasn’t the case. They’re getting trickier now. They’re giving away an AppleTV and on the last Tuesday of the month, it’s going to be a big screen HDTV.

Last month, I assume that the $1,000 posts were completely visual. This month the posts could be $5 or even $100, that’s their choice. It’s based under a completely random topic and now someone can click a link thinking they’re going to be blogging about plastic cups, the way Jade did, and have an AppleTV being shipped to their door.

Changing things around like this seem to be cool, especially how they’re doing it now, but my sleep schedule is pretty messed up because of staying up the way I have on Tuesday’s. I just can’t wait until it’s my turn : taps foot :

Welp, since I didn’t win a TV I guess I can run down the PPP ops and bring in something today. There were pretty high paying ops popping up this morning that I’m pissed at myself for not taking now.

9 Hours down, 15 to go.

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

If you haven’t already noticed, I’m working on 24 hours of blogging. This plays in part with the fact that I’ve been waiting for the super special post to show up on PPP. For the entire month of April they were giving away $1,000 every Tuesday. It’s different this month and I’m itching to see what it’s going to be. I know for sure that I’m not the only one doing this, based on the PPP Blog a few members have also done the same thing.?Ǭ† I could just really use the money right now, I fully intend to get myself into school with it so I’ll cross my fingers and hope to see that special post show up sometime over the course of the next 15 hours.

I do have a lot to get done today, work wise, so the blogging may stop for a while but we’ll see what my inbox looks like. I may have something with one of the other 6 blog sites I’m with show up SOMEWHERE…heh.

Morning!

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

The sun’s finally coming up and I can’t tell you how badly I’d like to be on the boardwalk right now. There’s NOTHING like watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean to get your energy boosted up for the day. Yesterday it was in the 80’s, today it’s only going to be in the low 70’s but there’s a cold front heading this way so I assume that has a lot to do with it. I’ve been wearing shorts for a few days so going outside before I felt as though my toes were going to freeze off. I’m not complaining though, there’s been so much damn heat rolling through here that I’m going to greatly enjoy the week full of low 60’s that’s coming this way.

Ut! It’s 6:30, time to start getting our orders ready for the deli!

Outside Help

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

As far as statistics go, there’s a 10% chance that you WON’T be in debt at some point in your life. With the cost of living going up, and pay checks remaining the same, it’s hard to live within your means without some kind of outside help (loans, credit cards, etc) or even the ability to just break even. Unless you have a joint budget with your wife/husband/mate, you’re most likely spending more than you’re bringing in. Savings accounts are dwindling and no one is really happy with where they currently are.

I’m a saver, while I do binge on random items, I penny pinch. It’s how I was raised. There’s no point in dropping money on items that you don’t really need. Money earned is meant for bills, food, etc. Sure, sometimes you can find me at either Wal-mart or Kmart looking for clothes but that depends on the status of my closet. I don’t intend to be making any immediate purchases considering I’ve been losing about 5 pounds a week for the last few weeks. My goal is to drop quite a bit and there’s no point in spending money on clothes when I’m going to have to keep buying more.

I like nice things, I won’t deny this. I just don’t see the point in spending money on them when they aren’t really necessary. Yes, I don’t need two computers but when you work online as much as I do, it’s nice to have a bit of variety. I can’t sit at a desk all day, I need to move around. I’ve been on the desktop all night while my laptop takes a break, you can find me on that more than half of the time.

I just think it’s important that people start living within their means, and not depending on the banks/government to pay their way. It’s sickening to me.

Crystal Light

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

I’ve been drinking A LOT of water lately. I think I’ve gone through about 3 gallons in the last two days. I know they say to drink 8 glasses of water a day but wow, I think I’m pushing it…lol. I’ve randomly been mixing in different flavors of the crystal light to-go packs. I’m just getting low on them so until I can get back to the store, I’m going to be back to just drinking plain water. I’ve tried quite a bit of the packs, many different ones and the two I hate the most are fruit punch and peach. The rest of them are good. I’m really digging the mango green tea, but my favorites are strawberry kiwi and raspberry lemonade. I didn’t think I could get away with drinking stuff like this but when it’s all natural favoring and isn’t loaded with sugar, it makes me happy.

Paintball = FUN!

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Growing up on Long Island you didn’t hear much about paint ball, I don’t even think there was a place to go to in order to participate. Once I got down here, I noticed an over abundance of shops with paintball supplies, I found myself very interested in this.

Tippmann X7 We wondered into one of the stores one day and were looking around the cases and I found the TippmanX7 and fell in love, almost instantly. This gorgeous piece of paintball markers is about $430 but there are other places where I can find it for cheaper, that’s the beauty of the internet.

Behind this store was a field covered in more paint than I’d ever seen. They run an active paint ball war zone type of deal that’s open to the public and used rather frequently for those traveling down here in the summer. I don’t quite understand how they can run around in the heavy gear during the summer but more power to them.

We tried it out and I had more fun than I thought I would. I beaned him in the leg a few times. He beaned me back though, thankfully it hit the safety gear. Tuck and roll! It was a lot of fun though, I can’t wait to do it again. I’ve already told him that we’re going to have to setup our own war zone in the backyard and make all the neighbors get involved too…heh.

Undecided.

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

We decided to hold off until about 6:30 before we ordered anything. The diner wasn’t an option that was going to benefit either one of us. The food is too greasy for me and Baby really didn’t want a burger from them considering how horrible the taste. We’re going to wait until this little mom and pop shop opens up and then call in an order from there. I figured I’d just get myself some breakfast. They’ve got some pretty decent omlets but I know there’s a whole muffin case so maybe I’ll load up on some whole-grains today instead of eggs. I haven’t quite decided yet.

I’m still getting some work done here and there on other things. I’m trying very hard to get Bella to eat but she just refuses to do it lately and I really wish I understood why. She’s only eating about once a day and at this point it’s been over 24 hours since she last ate anything. I really need to get her to the vet, that’s just more money going out than I’d like. I need to remind myself to call the groomer today too. I think a lot of her discomfort is based on the fact that her hair is starting to get a little matted and it’s bothering her. I want to assume that once I get that fixed, then everything else will slowly follow.

Back to work I go…

Not happening.

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

I know that I’ve been talking a lot about loans lately but this is based on the fact that while money is coming in fairly well at the moment, it’s all going towards my trip on the 12th. In the long run, however, I don’t ever see myself actually getting a loan. The reason so many people are in debt is because they’re living far beyond their means. Sure, you need to get a mortgage on that house of your dreams, but even if you paid for the house in cash you’d have to pay off a mortgage for a possible tax break in the future.

No matter which route you take, you’re screwed. Secured loans, home improvement loans, re mortgage loans, car loans, personal loans, student loans, and any other financially damaging thing they’d give you a loan for. Everyone is so willing to give you money just so they can beat you senseless with interest rates.

I don’t like the idea of a secured loan. I don’t like that in order to borrow a couple hundred dollars to pay the bills that you have to put your house or your car up as collateral. I’m sorry but anyone stupid enough to take this route deserves to lose their property. If you don’t have enough money to pay your cell phone bill, why not throw out the phone? If you can’t afford your rent because of your location, move to a place that you can. Having a cable internet, HDTV cable and a VOIP phone is a want, not a need.

Anyone can cut corners in order to cut back on their bills, the problem is that no one wants to because they feel they deserve everything that they’re getting. If it’s the choice between feeding your children or getting yourself a new outfit, and you choose the outfit – forget the debt, call CPS.

That’s just my take on it, at least.

I Hungie.

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

I can already tell you that sticking to my diet has been a bit difficult. While I haven’t been loading up on junk food, I haven’t really had any food either. When we went to the deli today I got myself corned beef on rye, which is perfectly fine in moderation. Since then, however, I haven’t eaten in about 14 hours. I just popped a Special K bar to put something in my stomach but Baby and I are currently looking for anything that’s open just so we can get some dinner.

We haven’t done any grocery shopping so it’s not like we can find anything in-house that would fulfill our hunger pains at the moment. The only option is looking for something that’s 24 hours, or just open later than 2am. Unfortunately, the only option is the diner and their food is so greasy you gain 10lbs just by touching the food, let alone eating it. The oil on some of their dishes is so thick that it soaks right into your skin and no amount of soap can get it out – it sucks.

I think we may wind up just going to the supermarket and picking up something to cook, that’s really the only option at the moment. :: sigh ::

Pretty flowers!

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

2FlowersCOM When it comes to special occasions, birthdays, holidays, etc. I like the idea of sending flowers to whomever deserves them for that day. With mother’s day coming up, I know for sure that I’m getting them for Kay but I also think I’m going to send them out to my aunt as well. I go through the usual websites looking for them but recently I came across 2flowers.com. The cool thing about this company is they deliver arrangements and gifts in many countries, all orders are hand delivered by premium local florists. Their pieces are all inclusive with absolutely no hidden fees. Orders are delivered next day, to any city.

I find larger companies like 1800flowers to be a bit impersonal. Sure, they deliver promptly and can create some nice looking arrangements but I like the idea of having mom and pop kind of florists to do the work, getting flowers away from the corporate world. I came across a few arrangements that I thought were really sweet for mother’s day gifts. The Many Thanks Bouqet has roses, ranunculus, gerbera daisies, and lilies in shes of pink that are complimented by white snapdragons and larkspur. If I were to wake up with this arrangement on my night-stand, I think I’d grin to the point of my cheeks popping off.

It’s really an interesting site, and I suggest you head over to 2flowers.com to get in your purchases for Mother’s Day – you only have until May 13th to do it!

Productive Day … me thinks.

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

I didn’t get to sleep until about 4:30 this afternoon. We were actually pretty busy today. We hung around the house for a while and got some things done outside. He pulled out the weed wacker to do the trim around the house because the landscapers for the community only do what they can get to. Instead of paying some stupid fee each month it’s just easier to do every thing yourself. The hose was tangled so we worked on that, there were two and both of them had gaping holes in them so it’s time to get a new one.

We showered/changed and then headed over to the deli up the block and got ourselves lunch. First we stopped by the groomer so I could ask a few questions but unfortunately they were closed so I think I’ll just have to call tomorrow. I forgot that a lot of places aren’t open on Monday’s. No biggie.

After we ate we were home for a little while and then Baby decided to go to bed, I wasn’t tired enough to follow. I wound up going outside to read and then I realized if I don’t plant something soon, there won’t be any flowers for the season. I know I’m already a bit late but I really don’t care, worse case scenario – if nothing pops up – I’ll just go get some pre-bloomed ones and plant them myself.

Around 4:30 it all caught up with me and I was knocked out. Now it’s a little after 12 and I’m most likely going to be up all night. There’s a big Tuesday thing going on over at PPP so I think I’m going to stick around for that. I think there’s going to be?Ǭ† A LOT of blog posts today because I’m probably going to be up for 24 hours again … heh.

In any event, I’m gonna get my ass in gear. Finish a few templates, get some things off my computer and then figure out what I’m going to do from there. I really, really need to turn the AC on because it’s so warm in here that I’m afraid I’m going to fall back asleep and that would totally screw me up.

Yep… I play!

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

I know I’ve noted it before but many people still don’t know that I play backgammon on a regular basis. The game actually relaxes me, almost as much as mancala or checkers. I started playing backgammon when I was younger. My father taught me and it was our ‘thing to do’ whenever nothing else was going on and we just wanted to find something to keep us entertained. At the rate of there never being anything good on TV, playing often was the only option. I do a lot of surfing online for tips and tricks and I spend quite a bit of time floating around backgammon masters, they’re a great site for keeping up with rules and what not.

Recently, BackgammonMasters.com purchased Roman Greenberg’s boxing shorts for quite a bit of money to help him make it to the top professional boxing ranks. The money will go directly to Greenberg for training for improvement of his boxing skills. After the match they’ll auction off his shorts starting at $100,000 and all the proceeds will go to charity for Arab and Jewish youth.

So it’s not just about playing the game anymore. To some degree it’s about helping others in need as well. Sure, they’re sponsoring someone to get their name out there but in return they’re giving quite a bit of money to children who need it. Give a little, take a little…nothing wrong with that.

Patience

Monday, April 30th, 2007

I’m waiting, rather patiently, for the house to cool down. It’s about 85?Ǭ?F (29?Ǭ?C) right now and I’m literally dying at the moment. I don’t like heat, I never have. Especially when it’s HUMID heat, which is the case today. The air conditioner doesn’t really help much with humidity, sure it cuts down on the heat in the house but you’re still kind of sticking to yourself and that’s the absolute worst feeling in the world.

This chair isn’t helping me much either. It’s over-sized and really holds the heat. Sure, in the winter it’s not that bad when you’re just trying to curl up but in the summer it can be your absolute WORST enemy!

Needing some kind of relief…

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Nurofen Plus I haven’t been doing too well lately. I don’t know if it’s the stress from all of the walking, the horrible bed that I’m sleeping on, or if it’s the fact that I’ve spent so much time sitting in uncomfortable chairs while I work all day, but I find myself being in more pain than usual. I’ve been searching every where for a pain reliever that doesn’t require me taking prescription drugs. There’s plenty of vicodin and percocet in the house but I get so tired and so sick after taking products like that, that I really have no choice but to take some aspirin and suck it up.

I found a new product, Nurofen Plus, that’s supposed to be a very strong pain reliever. It’s a dual action of ibuprofen and codeine. It’s powerful temporary relief for strong pain and/or inflammation associated with headache, tension headache, migraine headache, period pain, dental pain, back and neck pain, neuralgia, rheumatic and arthritic pain, muscular pain and sports pain.

So yea, it covers a lot of area’s but does it actually work? I honestly don’t know. While I believe that strong pain relievers are important – I’m not too sure about the $35 price tag attached to it. I also don’t know if this is even FDA approved and unfortunately I couldn’t find much information about it other than it’s made in New Zealand. It requires a bit more research for me to get myself into something like this…I’ll stick to Tylenol for now but guess it’d be worth trying for those who can’t get relief anywhere else.
