Spring’s Coming Soon!

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

For the first time, in many…many years, I’m going to have a LAWN for the Spring and Summer months. I’ve always kind of wanted to give Bella some grass to play on and I’m finally able to do it. The problem is, I’m going to be standing on just a green lawn with no real decoration. I could always throw up some kind of a flag to add to the decor, every other house in the neighborhood seems to have one. The big thing that I’ve always wanted to have is a bird bath. I know it sounds kind of cheesy but I’m easily amused by anything that’s not only cute but critter friendly (well…WANTED critters, down here are a lot of skunks). Another thing that I want to load up on is planters, there are some pretty nice ones out there and there’s a lot of yard to cover in flowers and what not. I can’t wait for spring.

Shoot Me!

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

I’m still working my butt off to get this client finished up. I don’t know why it’s taking me so long to configure a blog template, I know these things like the back of my hand. I think I’m just having trouble concentrating…obviously considering I’m posting.

I guess I’m just nervous, I don’t know. Baby and I are taking a small weekend trip in May and I honestly have no idea if I’ll even be able to afford to go. Any and all money that I make from this point on will basically be thrown into my savings account and will remain untouched unless I absolutely have to use it. It’s my goal to save up about $1,200. So far I guess I’m doing okay considering there are domain payments and other things coming in. The problem is I’m unsure if I’ll actually MAKE it to where I need to be. I could sit here and push AGn Solutions, but that really wouldn’t matter unless people were buying up the Professional Yearly plan. I could also sit here and push AGn Designs but I don’t know anyone looking for a blog template at the moment other than the ones I’m bidding on (and losing). It’s really freaking annoying.

The strange thing is…Baby told me that I was like this at the same time last year. I don’t know what it is about April but I always seem to be running out of money by the end of March. I don’t really do anything different than the rest of the year so why the hell is March such a bitch for me? I can’t blame it on Joe because I had the problem the year before he passed away so it has nothing to do with shitty luck…I just don’t get it.

You’ll notice A LOT more paid posts on my site. It’s my goal to do at least 3 a day so I can bring in some solid money for a while. I’m not asking you to buy anything from me, contrary to a very childish comment left by someone yesterday. I’m pushing advertising for other sites, if you don’t like it – don’t read it…simple as that. Go bother someone else or get offline, it’s warm out – can’t hurt to get some sun.

In any event, I’m going to get back to work and then head to bed. It’s getting pretty late and I think the boyfriend is finally ready to come out of his office and spend some time with me before I knock out for the night.

Later all.

Backgammon Anyone?

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Growing up, I wasn’t really into the typical board games that most kids enjoyed. I never really played Chutes & Ladders, Candy Land, Memory and other games like that. I always found myself to be drawn to games where you have to think a little. I was taught how to play Chess, Checkers and of course Backgammon.

I haven’t really played Backgammon in quite some time. So while doing some surfing around the ‘net I was surprised when I came across a website for Online Backgammon. This site is using a rather original approach to promote their game software. Most places will just throw a banner ad up and leave it at that. they’ve gone as far as creating a Backgammon Master named Jean Claude, an animated tiger.

Jean Claude, the animated tiger, is part of a 5 part animated series “Life According to Jean Claude”. In this series he’ll teach you how to succeed in everything from playing backgammon to chopping onions. He teaches you how to fulfill your dreams and make important life choices. When I first read this I kind of thought this was a hoax but after watching the clip, I have to say that he’s a really amusing guy. I think I’ll wind up tunning in for the rest of the series.

If you’re at all interested in seeing what I’m talking about, head here and view the clip for yourself. If you’re at all interested in learning how to play backgammon there’s a 3-in-1 free software located on backgammonmasters.com as well.

Baths, Work, Internet…OH MY!

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

I’ve been pretty busy today. I landed a client on GAF so that was a bit of quick money, I’m still working on it at the moment. I had to stop for a little while because Bella really needed a bath, badly. It’s been a couple of weeks and since the weather is changing so frequently and going from rain to sun so quickly, she started to get a bit musty. A quick drop in the tub, scrub-a-dub-dub and now she’s baby powder fresh!

I spent the entire day in the house, minus some time spend on the porch to enjoy the sunlight. Baby and I are taking a big trip soon so we’re trying to conserve money any and every way that we can. This means we’re no longer going to be going out as frequently as we’ve been in the last few weeks. I’m sure we’ll randomly take our trips to the beach considering how beautiful it is at night but time away from work is less money to be made so hopefully things will even themselves out. We each need to save up about $1,000 so hopefully I’ll be able to do it over the course of the next month. This is probably why I should get my ass in gear with this clients account so I can move on to the next one.

The internet has been kind of touch and go today though. I’m not really sure why it’s happening, kind of annoying actually. For the last couple of years I’ve been used to having my broadband supplied by Optimum Online, the best in the world…honestly. Living in Delmarva my broadband is now being supplied by Comcast and I have to tell you, I’m not digging it at all. They don’t really offer anything good as far as up-link is concerned. If baby is uploading something it dramatically slows down the Internet and since it’s a VOIP phone connection, the service cuts out whenever you’re on the phone and something is being uploaded, maybe even downloaded for that matter. I swear once things are settled I’m switching over to Verizon as my broadband provider.

Beautiful Day!

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Baby and I enjoyed our time at the beach. We got there around 4 when the tide was rolling in. There were a lot more people there than I would have thought for a Tuesday afternoon. Everyone was walking the boardwalk with their dogs, couples were slowly cruising the boardwalk barefoot and holding hands, the kind of romantic shit that will make anyone who isn’t in a relationship want to hurl.

We spent some time on the sand but with how my hip has been feeling lately, it wasn’t easy for me to walk. We moved to the boardwalk and just hung around for a few hours. We had a hot dog, shared a soda, watched the waves and just talked for a while. All-in-all it was a damn nice day.

I’ve been working my ass off for the last few hours on getting all of my billing up to date. There’s about $600 owed to me and in some cases I have no idea where it’s even coming from. I lost all of my early 2006 billing when my computer crashed last June so I have no idea where anything is. I’ve had to cross check all of the dates in my control panel with all of the dates in Paypal and then go through paperwork in order to even figure out the non-internet based payments. It’s such a bitch and I’m happy it’s over.

I’m very close to finishing my April theme. It took me quite some time to tweak everything correctly. Things would work great in Mozilla, Safari and IE6 but then loading them in IE7 a whole list of problems showed up. I’ve been able to correct them all and now I’m working on getting the content up and running. Hopefully I’ll have all of that done over the course of the next couple of days. The only big issue with the template, at this point, is the fact that my coloring looks great on my laptop but it looks like complete shit on baby’s desktop.

So this is when I ask you, the loverly guest of mine, to take a look at the color swatch above. Does it show up as a peachy color to you, or does it show up as a muted neon yellow. Comment and let me know, at this point it’s more than extremely important. The hex for the color is #FFFDB3, it shoud look like a pale peach…unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be working that way for everyone…your input would be greatly appreciated. I’ll give you a cookie!

I’m off to get some more stuff done.

Plug Yourself!

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

PPPThe most important part of running a business is making sure you advertise. You can’t exactly bring in any clients if absolutely no one knows about you. When it comes to the internet it can easily be done by purchasing banner space on random websites that rank with a PR7+ or you can just plug your name wherever you possibly can. The more traditional route would be to post flyer’s and run advertisements in the local news paper. The most effective one is, of course, business cards. It’s hard to find a site online where you can design decent cards for your business. I’ve gone through quite a few companies before and there really isn’t anything better than finding the perfect company to order your cards from.

After doing some research on their site, it’s safe to say that my next batch of cards will be purchased from 123print.com. They offer high quality backgrounds, excellent text options and they even offer magnetic cards. For companies just starting out, or whom don’t have an excellent grasp of Photo Shop – they offer something called “Image Builders” to create a logo for your business. It’s really nothing more than one-stop-shopping for business cards, address labels, letterheads and even post cards. I’d recommend them to anyone looking to get their name out there. Their prices are extremely reasonable as well. You get 100 cards for less than $4. Of course, based on how frequently I hand cards out, I’d purchase the 1,000 cards for $34. This is about $20 cheaper than the company I’m currently getting my cards printed with.

Anyone looking to gain a little exposure, or if you’re someone who thinks ahead and instead of having to write all of your information down during a car accident, you can just hand them a business card. It makes life a lot easier no matter what you use them for, I’d recommend 123print.com to anyone. Even if you only base your purchase with them on their prices alone, you’ve still made an excellent choice.

This is a sponsored post.

Sucker!

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I don’t know if it’s the heat, the fact that he’s easy or even my low-cut shirt but I’ve managed to talk Baby into bringing me to the beach. High Tide hits at around 4:15 this afternoon so we’ll be leaving the house in less than an hour. I honestly can’t wait. The other night the beach didn’t look so great, I wanted to go back in the day light to see if the ocean really did remove half the beach. Considering it’s windy right now, one can only hope to see something good.

We’re most likely going to stop for dinner before we even bother to head home. There isn’t really much in the house so it’s not worth coming back here to eat pasta again. I made baked-ziti the other night so we’ve been eating it ever since. Yay for something different! Boardwalk FRIES ::drools::

Emergency Calling Cards

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Before I was lucky enough to own a cellphone, I basically lived on Phone Cards whenever I was calling someone out of state. At the time there wasn’t any Long Distance on the phone and it cost way too much to keep in touch with friends and family around the US. I’ve used basically every one there is to use. None of them really gave me what I was looking for. The minutes all ran out too quick and if you were stuck somewhere with no calling card, and not even a quarter – you’re basically screwed.

International Prepaid Phone Calling Cards It’s important to have an emergency phone card, especially if you’re a student…they have quite a few international student phone cards. The cool thing about companies like Pingo.com is they have no hidden fee’s, the best competitive rates and when you sign up for their company you get like $5 in free calls, instantly. I say it’s worth it the next time you’re worried about being stuck somewhere without a cellphone. It’s a nice idea to keep a calling card on you for emergencies.

The Weather Channel LIES!

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I keep the Weather Channel on in the background when everyone is asleep at night. They’ve got some cool shows on there like “Storm Stories” and other things like that. I was told that the local weather for today would be partly cloudy and around 65?Ǭ?F (18?Ǭ?C). I don’t find that to be that warm, it’s kind of the weather I prefer…so I went to bed pretty content.

That content feeling changed the moment I woke up this morning. I was sweating bullets, something all girls absolutely HATE to do. I wondered why it was so hot in the house…the heat wasn’t on so that couldn’t have possibly played a roll. The windows were open all around the house so of course it should have kept things cool. I guess I was wrong.

I walk outside to have my usual morning cigarette and I’m hit with about 80?Ǭ? worth of PURE HEAT. How the HELL did this happen? Fans, cold drinks and taking it easy aren’t working very well for me. I don’t do well in heat, not many fat people do, I’m tempted to head to the beach and dive in.

Hair Help!

Monday, March 26th, 2007

I need help from anyone living in the Southern Delmarva area.

Since I’m fairly new down here, I’m still getting accustomed to where things are. I know I need to head to Georgetown, DE in order to go to the Super Wal-mart to save some money. I know to be in Rehoboth Beach in order to do a shit-load of shipping at 200+ Outlet stores. I know Ocean City, MD is the place to be if you’re looking for a lot of fun, boardwalk fries and real Italian pizza. I don’t know how you Delmarva natives can say that Grotto’s is GOOD PIZZA. Go to New Jersey, hell…take a road trip to Brooklyn…eat a real slice, will you?

I also know that Ocean City is NOT the place to be during the summer with all of the tourists. Baby wants to go down there for the 4th of July because of some massive fireworks show but I don’t really want to deal with the excess of people so I’ll stick to where I am and watch CW or something for their coverage of whatever local big fireworks show is down here.

The only thing I do not know about ANYTHING down here is in regards to grooming…me and Bella a like.

I’m in desperate need of a hair cut, as is Bella. I know that Rehoboth Beach is FILLED with Gay men but after asking around I’ve found out that hardly any of them know JACK SHIT about cutting hair, so I obviously can’t stop into a salon there while shopping. I’ve decided that maybe I should head north towards New Jersey, or completely south into Maryland.

I need to know where I can get my hair done that isn’t going to make me look like a poodle. I also need to know where I can get Bella done so she doesn’t look like a poodle either, the guy around the corner literally cuts all of the dogs the exact same way and I have no idea where to go.

Help me out! Where do you get your hair done? Do you recommend them? How are their colorists? (I’m LOADED with Grey). What’s their price range?

What about your furry friends? What groomer would you recommend, what’s their price range?

Any help would be great, I’m willing to travel so it shouldn’t be a big deal as to where it is. BUT I’d like to stay more in DE and MD because that’s easier for me considering I’m smack dab in the middle at the moment.

Depression and you…

Monday, March 26th, 2007

PPPI came across a site today that I believe can be of help to many people. If you happen to live in Pennsylvania and are dealing with depression, you should consider looking through a database Philadelphia Psychologists that I found online. This site doesn’t just focus on Pennsylvania though, the listings include Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and even Washington. If you live in or around these area’s you should seriously consider looking through the database.

Every day there are more and more people falling victim to depression, it’s good to know that there’s actually something that can be done about it from the privacy of your own home. It’s hard to ask someone the name of a good psychologist, let alone even getting to the point of bringing it up. It’s nice to find a site where you can get all the information you need with out the embarrassment.

Their site is very easy to read, as well as navigate. They’ve built a solid database of dependable professionals to help you get through your toughest of times, it’s worth checking it out.

Sunrise….Sunset

Monday, March 26th, 2007

It’s taken a while but I’m happy to announce that my ankle is now completely healed. The purple is gone, the swelling is gone, and the pain is literally out the window. Because of this, I’ve been able to do a lot more walking around which is why Baby and I have been spending a lot of time at the beach. We were there recently to watch the sun rise and because I’m a photography whore, I tend to bring my camera with me whenever we go to the beach. There’s something very calming about being on the shore during a sunrise, it wakes me up a lot more than my usual 24oz coffee with a dash of Irish Creamer.

March 2007, Beach Visit I think this picture really just gives you an idea of what I get to look at every morning. Now, until recently I wasn’t really a beach person but when you’re dealing with the Long Island Sound, you really could care less about when high-tide is going to drag in some nasty garbage that the sound is filled with. I know the Atlantic Ocean has some pretty dirty spots, especially along the shore but you still have an appreciation for it’s beauty, especially during sun-rise. The way the sky turns pink and yellow and then you over-look the blue ocean rolling in, it’s just gorgeous.

Baby and I really want to take a trip to California so that we can watch the sun set. I’ve heard that it’s absolutely beautiful so I truly can’t wait until we can see it. He’s also recommended going to Hawaii considering you can be on one side of the island to see the sun rise and then just travel to the other side of the island for the sun-set, I consider that one-stop-shopping, honestly…lol.

What’s your Credit Score?

Monday, March 26th, 2007

It’s been exactly one week since the boyfriends mom bought her new car. In order for her to get this car she had to get herself a loan. She went through the same company she got the loan for her house from so since she had good credit with them she was almost instantly approved and is now the proud owner of a brand new van.

I’m not a big fan of the idea of taking out a loan, but when desperate times call for desperate measures than I guess you have no choice in the matter. I believe the loan ratio at this point is 1:3 at this point considering the country runs on credit. The thing I don’t quite like the idea of are bad credit loans. When you have bad credit, the only loan you’re most likely going to get is a secured loan. A secured loan is defined as:

A secured loan is a loan in which the borrower pledges some asset (e.g. a car or home) as collateral for the loan. The loan is thus secured against the collateral ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äù in the event that the borrower misses a few payments, the lender takes possession of the asset used as collateral and may sell it to regain the amount originally lent to the borrower.

This means you can lose your HOME, or even your CAR if you mess up on your payments. Is putting your home at risk really worth the price of the loan?

Another option really isn’t based on your credit score, so I don’t quite understand it…it’s called an unsecured loans. An unsecured loan is defined as:

Unsecured loans are loans that are not guaranteed with any asset, so that the risk of repossession does not exist. Though the lender can still take legal action in order to recover the money, such a legal process would be significantly longer and more expensive than with secured loans. Typical unsecured loans are credit card debt, bank overdrafts, and personal loans.

When they talk about it this way, an unsecured loan is basically every time you overdraw your bank account. All you have to pay back is everything you took out, without interest…at least that’s what they want you to believe. With ALL of the banks I’ve dealt with, there was a $20-$50 overdraft FEE. Say happen to be late on a deposit and go -$1 over with a withdrawal, you’re charged $30. So instead of paying back the $1 you need to get your account to $0.00, you have to pay the bank $31 in order to make things right again. These over draft payments are what contributes to your credit score, at least that’s what I was told.

Your credit score, most times, isn’t even based on an actual credit card most of the time. It’s based on your cycled billing payments. Take your cell phone bill for example. Figure you pay around $70 a month for your cell phone, this would include any fee’s or taxes you have to pay on it (obviously). If you never miss a payment and never are late on one, you’re considered to have “good credit” with the company. This helps your credit score and the rest goes from there. I’m now basing it on Wiki (best site in the world), but according to them, this is the makeup of a credit score.

So basically, no matter what you do in life financially will contribute to your credit score, I guess you have no choice in the matter but to be an upstanding financial citizen if you plan on borrowing money from anyone.

Strange…

Monday, March 19th, 2007

I don’t normally get excited when it comes to working on new themes for k.nu. I guess it’s because I’m up before the sun today, who knows, but after doing some surfing on the ‘net, as well as some bidding on projects for some much needed cash…I found myself drooling over about 6 different templates for my April theme. If I merge them all just right it’s safe to say that it’ll be the kick-ass one I’ve been waiting on. Too bad my brain couldn’t come up with it sooner.

My reason for being up so early is because in about two hours I’m heading to Lewes, DE so the three of us (Baby and his mom) can hop on the ferry and head up to New Jersey for the day. His mom is buying a car and we’re kind of tagging along, should be a fun day. I don’t know how Bella is going to do being locked in a bed room for 12 hours but I’m sure she’ll manage. As long as she has some food and fresh water, plus a bone or two to chew on, I have no doubt in my mind that she’ll be able to handle it.

In any event, I need to get my ass in gear. Ive got that “just woke up frumpy” feeling that I need to kick. I really need to get some kind of work coming in so I can head over to like K-Mart or Wal-Mart or something and get some PJ’s, I’m getting kind of sick of wearing jeans to bed. Maybe I should go to NY to pick up my clothes…too much effort though – lol.

Enjoy your day all!

Leave me alone!

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

I was trying to keep quiet about this for as long as I could but it’s beyond annoying at this point. I don’t care that I was nominated for awards that I want nothing to do with. Please stop spamming my comments telling me that you either voted for me or I should be notified that my name is even listed, this is why all comments are moderated. I’ve already commented about it on the awards website and I’ve left it at that. Please leave me alone about it, vote for someone who actually deserves the awards they’re listed for, no matter what the category may be.

Moving along…

Baby and I went out to dinner tonight and then did some grocery shopping for the week. It’s raining pretty hard at the moment and we’re expecting around 2-3″ of rainfall from now until Friday evening. The car-shopping plans have changed to Monday. Unfortunately his mother gets out of work at 3PM and the dealership closes at 5PM. Considering the ferry is an hour and a half, then there’s about a two hour drive on top of that – it’s not worth going on Saturday to a closed dealer. Originally I thought it would be a waste to do all of the driving to New Jersey just to spend extra money on taxes but you pay the tax to where the car is registered, not where it’s purchased. This is pretty good to know, you learn something new every day.

I logged into my News12 Long Island account to see what was going on back in NY, I usually log in once a day so I can keep up to date on things. I see that there’s a massive storm warning for the island, quite a bit of snow in the forecast. Meanwhile, I’m sitting down in Delmarva enjoying the 70+?Ǭ?F(21?Ǭ?C) weather….what ever shall I do? ::ha!::

While it is raining outside, we’re planning to go down to the beach. Based on the news there’s an anticipated 9′-11′ waves because of the storm. I’d honestly love to see that. I need to find an umbrella so I don’t get totally washed away.

In any event, I need to get my butt in gear on some hosting forms. I’m about 6 hours behind on a few of them.

Later gators.
