Upgrade

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

It took me a little while but I’ve got myself setup with WordPress 2.1 now. I originally had WordPress installed manually so I had to install WP2.1 via Fantastico and then move the database over. It took about a half hour to get everything straight but now I’m content with where it all is now. If any of you reading this are on my server, Fantastico now has version 2.1 for WordPress…Tony upgraded this morning for me.

It’s been a busy day. Baby made me breakfast and while I was cleaning up the mess he made in the kitchen…he finally got around to hanging up all his clothes. In about an hour I’ll head into his office and make him clean the rest of his room so we can hang up his pictures and what not. I have to pack tonight because I’m going home tomorrow, it’ll be a LONG drive. I’ll be back here in two weeks. I think I’m going to wind up leaving some shit here…it makes for lighter packing the next trip down.

Bella’s been extra obnoxious the last couple of days. Her new thing now is climbing into the book case and chilling out. She’s also grown acustomed to hopping up on the dinning room table and sitting there so she’s semi eye-level with everyone. Kind of absurd but that’s Bella…right?

I have some work to do so I’m going to head off. If any comments were lost in the last hour, I apologize. They may have written to the old database and not the new one. I was tempted to just remove WordPress all together and then start fresh but after the last year I really didn’t want to lose those archives of Joe…you know?

I’m off…later gators.

Cleaning Binge!

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

I’m not quite sure why but whenever I’m at the boyfriends house (and I’m supposed to be relaxing) I always find myself wanting to clean house. There’s a lot of things that need to be done around here. The Christmas lights are still hanging outside, the living room could use some straightening up, same goes for the dining room, kitchen, his bedroom and the bathroom. He claims that I want to do too much but what he doesn’t realize is my drive to constantly keep moving is based entirely on the fact that it’s what I do (excessively) at home.

I’m waiting, patiently, for the boyfriend to get out of his room so we can start cleaning house. He left a note for his mom that he wanted to pick up shelving and what not from Home Depot today but I assume she wasn’t overly interested considering the note was erased and the pad was put back on the fridge. This doesn’t mean we can’t start everything else though. I should probably go and get on his butt about it. I know he just woke up but it’s easier to start working earlier on in the day so that by the end of the day everything is spic-n-span and then you can just sit back and relax…you know?

For the past few days I’ve been in the mood for Chinese Food. Now, this is coming from someone who isn’t a huge fan of it…mainly because it’s the reason that I needed the root canal considering the broccoli broke my tooth. Last night the boyfriend sweetly attempted to humor me and brought me to this place named Confucius. This, unfortunately, didn’t work out very well. I’m a typical American Chinese Food eater. I’m not really into duck and I’m deathly allergic to sea food. We first noticed how nice the place was, we were seated, ordered some soda and then opened up the menu. This, unfortunately, is something we should have done FIRST. The menu had NOTHING on it of interest to either one of us and we also noticed that the cheapest dish on there was $20. I’m sorry but there’s no way in hell dinner is going to cost over $40 for us if we’re not even happy with the food…you know?

We left there and headed over to the mall because there was this Chinese Buffet there it was like $8.50 a person, drinks included, they also had a lot more of a selection so of course this was a much better choice. This was until we opened the door to the place and I was almost knocked on my ass. The smell of fish wasn’t just located at the buffet, it was soaked into the walls and there was no way in hell that I was going to be able to sit there and eat. So I put my Chinese Food craving to rest and we headed over to the safety…Friendly’s. He enjoyed Chicken Fingers, I enjoyed a Turkey Supermelt and then we finished the meal off with a Reeses Pieces Sundae…a weakness for both of us. All in all I can say it was a fairly decent night.

We headed over to Wal-mart because I was in the mood to do some shopping. I picked up a new shirt, a purse, socks and a watch. I was looking to get a pair of pants and a new pair of sneakers but unfortunately there was nothing of interest there for me. I still managed to spend around $80 either way so I guess I can’t say the trip was a total loss. I bought the boyfriend a case for his iPod because I know it’ll get scratched at some point in time so this is more of an?¢‚Ǩ¬¶avoidance. I also got his mom a new remote for the living room TV because the one that came with the TV is so damn small it’s easily lost in the couch (or under a dog). It also works with the DVD player in here so at least that solves some lazyness issues with the boyfriend?¢‚Ǩ¬¶heh.

Towards the end of my shopping spree I came across the seasonal isle which contained quite a bit of Valentine’s Day Gifts. There were bears, candy, romantic games, hot sauces (for whatever people use those for). Heart shaped picture frames, squeeky toys that say random things. I know that the holiday was created mainly by the candy or toy companies but it’s still nice to receive a special Valentine’s Day Gifts from the one you love, you know? I made it a point to drag him down the isle and pointed out a few things that won’t fly with me if he was interested in giving them. He says he’s gonna plan something special so I guess we’ll see what’s going to happen there. It’s only a month away.

In any event…he finally came out of his room so I’m going to ride his ass to get him to start helping me to take shit down and clean up. I figure while he’s outside taking the lights down I can work on getting the living room started and by the time he’s done…all that’s left is the dining room and the kitchen…nifty, eh?

Exhausted

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Things have been going pretty well for the last few days. The new computer arrived (in full) on Thursday. XP was installed and the ram was put in. The monitor is an absolutely GORGEOUS quality which makes me very happy. I haven’t had the chance to actually use it though. The boyfriend set it up for me and he had to do some work. After laying down for a little while I decided it would be best just not to be on it so I figure when I get home next week I’ll sit down and play with it. I need to load my external drive into it and then get to work on getting everything important onto it and then getting a lot of shit off my laptop. I need to figure out how to link Outlook express but I figured I’ll just leave everything email based on the laptop and then just use the desktop for programs that take up a lot of space like the Adobe Suite and what not.

I took Bella with me this time. Every time I come down here I wind up missing her after a few days so thankfully she did very well in the car and now she’s actually doing well in a house she’s not used to. There were a couple of little accidents but nothing too serious to worry about. It was mainly excitement based accidents. She’s laying down by the window right now…snoring her head off.

It’s been uncomfortably warm the past few days (considering it’s January for crying out loud!). I can’t wait until a cold front comes through and I can go back to not dying before I go to bed. Last night the boyfriend and I had quite a bit of trouble falling asleep because I was just too warm to get comfortable and I’m sure it was driving him crazy that I was moving around so much. Bella plopped herself down in the window and since there was a light breeze I assume that she was OK for the night.

In any event, I think I’m going to finish up with my email checks and then lay down for a little while. I (for a change) got a full 8 hours of sleep last night but for some reason I’m actually pretty tired tonight. Considering Bella’s snoring her head off…I figure I can easily just roll over without having to worry about her pouncing all over me to play.

Later all.

Doot Doot

I’ve been pretty busy for the last few days. I did want to update earlier but ehh…shit happens, right?

Cybertron I’m waiting (almost too patiently at this point) for my computer to get here. I kind of went all out on this one and it didn’t even cost me very much at all. I decided that with all the issues I’m having with my laptop…HP just wasn’t worth it anymore. I got myself a custom build from company named CybertronPC. By default it doesn’t come with a lot, but that’s OK because I’ve purchased more ram for it. It came with an 80GB hard drive, which I know doesn’t seem like much but I have an 80GB external hard drive as well as a 120GB drive from my last computer that will all be loaded in so I’m damn sure I’ll be set for space…you know? Later on down the road I’ll upgrade the ram, I figure if it’s mainly going to be used for graphics, as well as be running all the time as a network based server…I’ll need maybe 2 gigs instead of 1 so that’ll be OK. With this computer comes a new keyboard and mouse but considering I’m extremely happy with my old keyboard I’ll just use that one. I bought a new mouse from Logitech because I prefer their company when it comes to input devices. I also bought myself a 17″ LCD so I can still have enough room on my desk for my laptop whenever I happen to be using that. Everything is going to be networked so I can still get to my files from no matter what computer I’m on. After this weekend there will be four in the house. My sister got one for Christmas, the one that’s in the living room and then my two. Talk about PC nerds…eh? In total everything only ran me about $620 and I get about $80 back as far as Mail-in Rebates are concerned so I guess it wasn’t such a bad deal…right? I got the computer, ram, new mouse, mouse pad and monitor – not a bad deal at all!

I’ve been really busy cleaning for the last few days. I realized a few days after I bought the new computer that my desk was over-grown with useless papers and books. I also cleaned out my dresser as well as my closet. I managed to throw out quite a bit of clothing which is perfectly fine because I really needed to do it. It’s nice having practically nothing in there but it reminds me that I have some shopping to do sometime over the next couple of weeks. I’ll be going through Delaware to get to Maryland so I’m sure I’ll take advantage on the No Sales Tax aspect of things…he-he.

Other than cleaning I’ve been finishing up some accounts, gotta make money somehow. I’ve also managed to get the new template for AGn-Solutions up and running. I’m in the process of working on a new one for AGN-Designs because it’s been a while since I’ve done anything there and I have quite a few templates to add to the portfolio anyway. Hopefully I’ll be able to get the Templates section up and running so I can finally start selling the pre-made’s that have been sitting on my computer for the last six months.

In any event, it’s getting kind of late and since I know I’ll be up very early on Friday I’m going to be changing my sleep schedule over so I’m going to get myself ready for bed and hopefully if everything works out OK I’ll be knocked out by 2am, tomorrow it’s my goal to be knocked out by midnight and the same goes for Thursday this way I can be ready to leave the house by maybe 11:30 (at the latest) on Friday morning. :: crosses fingers::

I’ll return comments when I get the chance. I know I’m pretty behind on them, sorry guys.

So far…so good

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

We’re currently three days into the New Year and I’ve been more productive than I thought I would be. I’m balancing four fairly large accounts right now, I’m hopelessly in love, I ordered myself a new computer, I bought a new 30GB video iPod, I have a new pet named Frankie (Blue/Green Beta Fish), and I just installed a new WordPress Plugin for my Administration Panel named “Spotmilk” that’s pretty awesome looking.

Life is going pretty good right now. Things on the relationship front are better than ever. We’re working on moving in together but haven’t quite decided where we’d like to be, location wise. I know once we’re both financially sound it’ll be easier to figure things out, that’ll happen soon enough. I’m working on a small business grant so I can go further with AGn Solutions, and get myself enrolled in school. It’ll be easier to decide where I’m going to live once school is factored in.

It’s been a fairly busy couple of weeks for me, as you can see.

Christmas was pretty fruitful. Dad bought me a new TV because the one I had was about 13 years-old and the people were randomly turning funky shades of green. He got me a 20″ LCD which is very, very nice. The only problem is the cable line to my room is shitty and since it’s an HDTV the quality of the channels is pretty funky looking. The boyfriend, however, bought me a DVD player and I’ve watched a few movies on it and the quality is GORGEOUS so I’m very happy.

I’m going away around the 15th with the boyfriend. I’m bringing Bella with me so who knows how long I’ll be away for. The only reason I come home from these vacations is because I miss her so much. My father is going to Atlantic City at the end of the month so I do believe I’ll be coming home before then. Who knows.

In any event, it’s getting late and I still have a few hours of work to put into a few accounts before I go to bed so I’ll sign off now.

Night all 🙂

Happy New Year!

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

Just wanted to leave a note for everyone!

Happy New Year!

I’m spending the evening with the boyfriend. We’re going to dinner, heading over to my aunts for a little while to wish everyone a Happy New Year and then we’re heading over to his aunts house for a New Year’s Eve party. So I’ve got a pretty busy day ahead of me.

I’ve been working – a lot – over the course of the last couple of days. Quite a few clients emailed me and requested New Years launches on their websites. Of course most of the emails came in on Friday. Talk about cutting it close, right? Thankfully I was able to get everything done. I’m still working on two accounts though. I’m getting the non-profit site up for Alicia’s fiance and I’m working on a WordPress template for another client that I most likely won’t have done until Tuesday afternoon. I don’t want to take that long but I just won’t have any time for it over the course of the next couple of days. I did about 4 hours of work with it today, I have maybe 4 more hours to go. I’m leaving in a half hour though so I can’t really get much work done now, unfortunately.

In any event, I need to take a shower and get myself ready to go. I hope everyone has a safe New Year, lay off on the booze if you know you’re driving home, eh?

Merry Christmas!

A little note for everyone celebrating this special day!

Canal!

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

On Thursday I was woken up by a phone call telling me that I had an appointment with the Dentist at 2:00 PM that afternoon. Considering it was 10:00 AM I figured I’d have plenty of time to figure out what the hell just happened (I was only asleep for like two hours at this point mind you).

I got to the dentist about 20 minutes early because I’ve never been to this guy before and figured I’d have paper work to fill out. I was there for 10 minutes and went right in to get checked out. He preformed a root canal right then and there because it was either get that done or the tooth wasn’t worth saving. He also seemed very disappointed with the status of a few other molars in my mouth. They cracked, I have no insurance, nothing I can really do about it. It took three large shots of Novocain for me to finally go numb, I’ve always had a high tolerance to that stuff…probably why Ambesol doesn’t ever work for me.

He’s been the ‘family’ dentist for my Aunt, Uncle and Grandmother (Dad’s side) for the last like 20 years, so he only charged me $140 for the root canal and temp filling. After the holidays I’m going to have to schedule an appointment for the rest of the root canal and then a crown. That’s probably going to run me about $1200 so I guess we’ll see what happens from here. So much for buying myself a new computer for Christmas. I really don’t want a desktop with Windows Vista so I’m going to have to figure something out.

As far as shopping is concerned, everything is covered. I spent more on my sister than I probably should have. I bought quite a bit for my father as well as my aunt. I went a little crazy on the boyfriend, but he already knows that. I even went in on some gifts for my mother, crazy eh? I didn’t get her husband anything though, it’s not that I didn’t want to it’s because he’s a fairly large man and it’s impossible to find clothes for him in stores like Wal-Mart and what not. So I think I’ll have my sister head over to like big and tall or something and see what happens.

In any event, I’m going to lay down, my fever hasn’t really come down yet from the cold so I don’t want to sit up any longer than I should have to.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Holiday Madness!

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

I’ve been home since late Saturday night but I’ve been unable to really sit down and relax long enough to update the blog.

I had a very, very, very nice trip to Atlantic City. I went down with $350 wondering how I’d manage to stretch it for three days and after being there for two hours, I had that completely figured out. On one slot machine, after two plays, I hit for $1500. Four hours later I hit for $5200, so I guess you can say that Krissy is a very happy, happy girl.

I was a little under the weather all weekend though. By Sunday, I guess since all of the excitement kind of died down, I was in bed all day sleeping with a really bad cold. I still can’t breath through my nose but at least I’m not hacking up a lung anymore either…you know? But, I guess there’s a price to pay for any happiness – eh?

I know exactly how I got sick though. There was some little brat kid in Wal-mart on Tuesday night that couldn’t cover her mouth when she was coughing all over the place. It’s not like she had the kind of mother who would say ‘cover your mouth’ either, she was the kind of mother that left the child in the middle of the store while she went to another isle to pick something up. I swear, some people never freaking learn. If her kid was picked up by someone I can guarantee that the mother would blame Wal-mart and try to sue. That’s just the stupid world we live in I guess.

Anyway…in the last two days I think I’ve spent about $1200. This is ok though because I’ve covered the Christmas Bases as I like to call them. The boyfriend is almost taken care of, my father is basically done, my aunt there’s a few things left, same goes for my uncle. I did get some small things for Alicia and the boyfriends aunt so I’m sure if either one of them is reading this, they’ll know that they’re also getting something out of me for Christmas.

Side Note: Alicia, call my cell when you get the chance…k?

Anyway, I’m going out with my Dad tonight to do some shopping for my sister, aunt and uncle so I should be able to square them away with no problems tonight. I did get some stuff for my sister yesterday but she was with me so she already knows what she got. In order to avoid any no-present syndrome for her she’s not allowed to have anything until Christmas Morning anyway. I got her two pairs of sneakers from Lady Footlocker, a few shirts from Wal-Mart and then since she was actually being NICE for a change, I bought her a quick $20 refill card for her Boost Mobile.

Once all the Christmas shit has died down, I’ll be treating myself of course. I’m enrolling in school, getting a new desktop and then I’ll be getting myself a new cell phone because our family plan is up for renewal in two weeks and thanks to my sister running the bills up, excessively, for the last two years, Dad has decided that he’s just going to remove both of us (even though I gave him the $30 a month for my phone anyway). I guess it doesn’t matter though, with the amount of time I use the phone during the month anyway…I can live on a prepaid…trust me. The only reason my bill was $30 a month was because that’s basically the cost of having the phone on the plan. I’ve only gone over my minutes ONCE and that was the fault of my sister.

The family plan only had 500 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends (starting at 9pm). She managed to use up over 8000 minutes for the November10-December10 billing cycle. She had over 1500 BILLABLE minutes. The bulk of the other minutes were all night based, I believe she had about 6500 nights/weekends. She used all 500 on the plan, this plan covers ALL THREE PHONES. So because of her…the 60 minutes that I used were billable because there weren’t any minutes left. Those 60 minutes were the phone calls I made home during the few weeks I was with the boyfriend so I could update Daddy on my medical status. Thanks a lot sis…

So yea, I’m getting myself a new phone. Considering a Razr because I’ve wanted one for a really long time and I know a few people who mod phones so I’m going to get some funky stuff for it. Maybe some case mods there are like 200 colors you can get for cellphone covers, I’m not stupid enough to cover my phone with crystals because that honestly just looks stupid. I’ll go to T-Mobile prepaid though, I really dislike Verizon’s prepaid services. I also have a Nextel from Alicia that she says she doesn’t want back, I might get a boost sim card so I can at least be in free contact with my sister, mom and even Alicia so I guess we’ll see what happens there.

In any event, I have to move some laundry around and do a quick email check before I get out of here for the night.

Good luck finalizing your shopping and be careful!

Home but leaving soon…

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

After a few wonderful weeks spent exclusively with the boyfriend, I’m finally home. This doesn’t mean I’ll be around for long though. I’m leaving again on Thursday because my aunt has invited me to spend three days with her in Atlantic City. I don’t have much money saved up to bring with me but I also have no real intent of doing much damage there anyway.

It was my goal to have maybe $600 to come down with me, this way I can do $200 a day on my usual slot machines and then go from there. I’m only going to have about $350 with me, so I’ll have to break it down to around $115 a day, this isn’t too bad though. I’m sure I’ll be doing more wondering around than gambling.

Based on family history in Atlantic City, all the money is usually won on the last night just before they’re going to get their stuff together to head home. I figure if I can save up the bulk of the money to play exclusively on the last night – maybe I’ll come home with something.

I could bring more money down with me but it would be absurd to take out of my savings account just so I can gamble it away. There are still Christmas gifts to buy – you know?

I did a bit of shopping tonight with my sister, she dragged me out of the house around 7:30 screaming that Dad’s gifts needed to be purchased way in advance. We went to Wal-mart, dropped a quick $120 and the rest is history. We got him quite a bit though, there’s still some things that I’d like to pick up for him…I guess I’ll see what happens after Saturday.

I’m waiting on an email from a client so I can finally be done with their account. I also have two more that I’m waiting on a payment from so hopefully those will be coming in soon. I spent the last 3 days working on accounts. My only issue is a few paid through Escrow with a site I’m involved with so I won’t actually see that money until like…the day before Christmas at the rate of cash-out times with this stupid site. Not a big deal though, it’ll be here soon enough.

When I get home on Sunday I’m going to finally get my ass in gear and finish the new templates for AGn Solutions and AGn Designs because I’ve waited just too damn long to get those up. I have about 300 template screenshots to add to AGn Designs so it’s about time I get my ass in gear on them. I want to be able to have everything launched by January 1st to bring in the new year.

And speaking of New Year’s…I’ll be spending it with the boyfriend and his family. His aunt is having a party and since both her and his mom seem to love me, I get to go. Nifty – eh? I’m sure it’ll be fun, it’s nice spending holiday’s with the one’s you love…that’s all that matters.

On a side note, I was having a conversation with a friend of mine tonight and I have to say I’m a bit annoyed with her husband right now. For their five year wedding anniversary he went ‘out of his way’ to buy her one of those Kay Jewelers 10k white diamond Journey necklaces (the ones they’re advertising on television right now). He got her the one with 7 diamonds to match every year that they’ve been together. This in itself is very sweet, I’ve seen the necklace and think it’s gorgeous – this is coming from someone who’s not overly a fan of necklaces (minus the one the boyfriend gave me for my birthday of course). But anyway…long story short. He goes on to tell her that his gift broke the bank, when the necklace itself is only $99 to begin with. But he claims that he got the one that’s over $1,000 blah, blah, blah.

She’s looking at the Kay Jewelers website and notices that the necklace isn’t the same. She keeps her mouth shut though because the $1,000 he spent showed up on the credit card bill so it’s not like he completely lied about it. She did notice, however, that this $1,000 charge came from K-mart, not Kay Jewelers. She goes into K-mart and heads over to the Jewelry counter, she instantly finds the necklace. it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a whopping $9.99 – yes, nine dollars and ninety-nine cents. She asks herself “Why would he lie?” so she finds the receipt after she gets home and it turns out the bank was broken because he bought himself a plasma screen that he was hiding in his office from her behind a curtain.

All of this is brought to his attention, with the evidence respectively, and he feels as though it was a complete invasion of his privacy to go behind his back and find the information that he was clearly lying about.

My question to you is: Do you think she was wrong for bringing it to his attention, or do you think he was right for being extremely angry with her for doing so?

He completely 100% lied to her about the price of the item, not to mention the store it was purchased at. He bought himself a new TV in the process when they can’t financially afford it considering she’s 7 months pregnant (yea…sorry I think I forgot to mention that previously). If I were in her shoes I’d use the little strength I had left at the end of a pregnant day and kick him in the face.

This of course…is my answer for everything.

What would you do in this situation?

Thanksgiving comes late…

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

I’m completely exhausted and that’s rare for me considering it’s only around 1:00am. It was a pretty busy day for me though. I woke up, had my cig and then basically I’ve been in the kitchen all day long.

I’m at the boyfriends house and considering I didn’t have much of a Thanksgiving dinner, I basically had one here with him and his mom. I was up early enough to bake a cake and some cookies to get dessert out of the way. The rest of the day was basically all about the fixings. I forgot to take the Turkey out last night so due to extra defrost time dinner wasn’t until around 7:30 which I guess was ok considering everyone seemed happy with what they got.

The boyfriend loaded himself up on turnips and mashed potatoes because he’s a picky eater when it comes to lumpy potatoes. I had to insure they were the right lump-ness or I’m sure he wouldn’t have eaten them heh. His mom seemed happy with dinner, “very full” as she put it, even the dogs got themselves some turkey and knocked out soon after. With everything in my system now I’m pretty beat, so I guess I’ll be going to bed sooner than planned tonight.

My tooth is slowly getting better. The meds really did help me out quite a bit so I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m hoping to get myself to a dentist real soon to get this tooth removed and another one fixed so that I can chew again. This is my reason for waiting, very patiently, to hear back from a few people about account work. I need to come up with about $500 by next week or I’ve in no way reached the goal I needed to. I get emails all the time from people looking for work and then they never respond, it really is starting to get a little annoying. I’m going to run some follow-up emails though, maybe something will come from there. I think I’ll do that before I go to sleep.

Actually…at the rate of my eyes closing…I think I’m going to do that now.

Any out-sourcers with an overload, just kick ’em my way…please? 🙂

Night all.

I’m alive

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

It’s been a pretty messed up couple of days for me. The drive down on Friday was nice. My tooth was a little sore but that was expected considering I chipped it recently. By Saturday I was basically drowning it in Ambesol, and by Saturday night I was in the emergency room because it looked as though I had a golf ball tucked in my cheek.

After Antibiotics, being shot with a pain killer and downing two Percocets – they sent me home. Supposedly I walked into a door and then passed out a few minutes after my head hit the bed. Before that, I guess I was amusing the boyfriend because he had quite a bit to laugh about the next morning.

He went to the store for me and picked up my prescriptions. I’m on 500 MG of Penicillin, which I have to take four times a day. I’m also on Hydrocodone/APAP at a 5MG/500MG dosage. I can only take one to two every 4-6 hours as needed. So far, thanks to the antibiotics, I haven’t really had to take the Hydrocodone, so at least I’m not fucked up on pain killers. Hydrocodone is the generic version of Vicodin. It?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s the same dosage but cheaper, as most generics usually are.

I spent most of Sunday being knocked out. I spent Monday with the boyfriends entire family but was a little woozy during it so by the time we got back to the house I was ready to knock out. I guess it takes prescription in order to get me to sleep for more than five hours a night. It’s strange waking up and feeling over-rested…if that’s even possible.

Today I was feeling a little bit better so I did some email checks (I’m still going through them) and then I did some cleaning. I figure if I’m going to be here for a while then the least I can do is straighten up around me so I can be comfortable. Things look pretty good in-house, I also raked some leaves and cleaned out the boyfriends car. Now I’m exhausted and figured I’d update the blog considering a few emails that I read today noted that they thought I was dead until they saw my comment on the previous entry.

I’m going to head back to work and get this client out of the way so I can handle all of the hosting based things. I know I’m very behind there, so much so that a few domain expired and I’ve got people screaming at me.

Heaven forbid I get sick…right?

Damn Dog!

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

I think Bella realizes that I’m going to be leaving soon. I don’t know if it’s because I was chasing her out of my suitcases or if it’s because I keep cuddling up with her when I’m feeling bad about leaving…but she definitely knows what’s going on.

For the past couple of days she’s been a little terror. Normally she’s really good when it comes to going outside to do all of her business. She hasn’t really had an ‘accident’ in the house for quite some time. The one time that she did was because she was sick so she was only mildly scolded for it, so there’s no big deal there. Her new thing is she’s been going on the carpets which has me pulling out the stain remover every few hours. She’s also gone as far as doing some of her business on the couch, which has me more than pissed off.

I realize that this is a temperament issue but she doesn’t ever act like this so I believe my recent absence from the house has quite a bit to do with this. For the past few weeks I’ve been in and out and even for me it’s growing to be a hassle. At this point I’ve basically been gone a week, home two weeks, gone one week, home two weeks, gone one week (leaving tomorrow) and then on the 13th of December I’m going to be gone for three days. I’m not normally like this, I have my comfort zone in the house and never really go away. I hang out with Alicia from time to time and do some shopping here and there to keep myself sane but I’m not usually going from place to place for vacations…you know?

I guess before I leave tomorrow I should throw some stain remover on the carpet for one final cleaning and then let my sister deal with it over the week. Maybe she’ll actually grow out of it because I won’t be around for her to grab my attention in such a cruel way…I don’t know. I’m sure it’ll fix itself.

I believe I landed a big account that I was bidding on. It’s a quick $1600, so that’s something to look forward to. That should solve quite a few of my money issues right now. I told the client there’s a 5 day max work period so once I settle in I’ll be able to get myself setup computer-wise and get cracking. :crosses fingers:

Thanksgiving was ok. I went to my grandmothers house and kept my mouth shut for the bulk of the time because the baby, as usual, had all of the attention. It’s strange though…I’ve seen her go from a 3 day old baby to a now 5 year old chatter box. She’s a very tall kid who’s into like…everything. She’s a pisser though, that’s for sure. My grandmother pulled out a bag of candy for after dinner and my aunt (her mother) was like “What, are you crazy?” my grandmother is looking at her like “Why?” and the baby then said “What are you crazy? I’ll eat the whole bag!” So that turned into the running theme of the night (annoying as usual) but she’s quick with zingers so it’s obvious that she’s a member of this family…no question about that. Either way dinner was good, my other aunt doesn’t really know the concept of “little bit of gravy” because she emptied like two cups worth onto my food I could barely eat it. So I didn’t really get to enjoy it the way I usually would…but whatever.

For now, I’m going to head off. I’m waiting on my laundry to finish drying and the boyfriend is behind me on his laptop working on his own shit. I guess it’s safe to say I’m done with the ‘net for the night considering I have nothing to really do right now…heh.

The Push

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

I need to come up with about $600 in three weeks. This is my random “push” entry for some business. I’m also bidding on quite a few projects on GAF and asking around to friends and family to put my name out there for some work. This is my way of putting it out here. I know I’m going on vacation next week but at this point that’s irrelevant considering I’d spend maybe $50 a most while I’m away because I have no intent of really spending a lot of time out of the house.

Extremely Annoyed

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

A few weeks ago I accidentally dropped my clip board onto my laptop screen. Because of this, I have a scratch in the monitor. Now, when I purchased my laptop I thought that with my warranty I’d be covered for all screen issues. I could care less that there’s a small scratch on my laptop keyboard because #1 – That was my fault, #2 it’s not noticeable to anyone unless you really look.

I called up HP a few moments ago and after dealing with one of those useless yes/no phone bots, I was finally connected to a representative that doesn’t speak a word of English but insists her name is “Donna”. After straining to understand her I was finally giving her my serial number, product number and phone number so she could bring up my account.

I told her that there is a scratch on the screen. It has not effected anything mechanically, I can still see everything behind it. It’s just the protective layer. I figured this would be an easy fix…but I was wrong.

It took her three times of repeating herself for me to understand the cost for this fix. A whopping $290. I blinked and said “Pardon? I thought this was under the warranty.” She went on to say “No, you have no accidental damage coverage.”

So I sat there for a second and went on to say that about 5 months ago my laptop was shipped back to HP (with no problems) when there was a bug floating around my screen. The lady went on to tell me that a bug in the screen isn’t really accidental damage. So I’m confused. It’s not like I intentionally put the bug in my screen. And it’s not like I intentionally dropped my clipboard on the monitor either.

She went on to tell me that it’s $290 and I’ll have to pay that in order for the laptop to even be returned to me. So this means when it shows up there they’ll fix it and hold it captive until I pay up. Sorry, that’s not going to happen. I’m not even going to bother sending it in now.

I’ve gotten used to the scratch, so it isn’t effecting me as much as one with huge line in their monitor would think. I can still see everything I need to see and there are no ‘dead zones’ on the monitor anyway. I want to assume that if there are dead pixels on the monitor that would be covered under the warranty, I have about 6 of them now. I figure if I can get myself up to 10 of them than I can just send it back to HP and it will resolve the scratch as well.

See…there’s always ways to get around things.

I am a bit disappointed in HP though. For a company that’s held in such high regard by many computer savvy nerds, they sure do cut cost by out sourcing all of their support to another country. If they could be smart and just move the support during normal business hours back to the states, I think it would work out better for everyone. It would be nice, for a damn change, to speak to someone who knows more English than what’s put onto a post-it note on the monitor in front of them.

It was my goal to send out my laptop this week because I’m leaving on Friday to spend a week (maybe more) with the boyfriend. Because of this, I have no real need for my laptop to be with me. He has a few computers and he’s nice enough to let me use one of them whenever I need it. I figured that while he’s doing his own thing on one computer during the day, I can just do some quick email based shit on the other and go from there. I wasn’t expecting to have my laptop with me full time next week so I guess I’ll just have to set myself up and leave it there while I work.

I’m finally on top of all of my emails. I’m in the process of emailing the final person now. It’s hard to get ahead when I keep going away for weeks at a time and have limited ‘net access or computer access in general. There’s also my issue of getting lazy, to be honest. If I’m sitting in the living room at my aunts house it’s hard to stay awake. While the couch is broken and very uncomfortable…you’re basically stuck in a hole that you can easily drift off to sleep in. When you’ve got that going on, plus Figgie sitting on top of you falling asleep himself…it’s just not easy to get anything done.

My new luggage is here, I’m slowly packing things up. I figure since I’m leaving on Friday I can easily pack up a few clothes and other items here and there. All of my hair care and other are usually in one place anyway so I just threw them into the bag and when it comes to my hair I’m basically living out of a suitcase LOL.

It’s about 5:40 and I guess I should go start dinner. Not sure what I’m in the mood to make but I’m sure I’ll be able to find something somewhere.

Later gators.

Casino Royale

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Ever since my trip to the casino for my birthday, I’ve kind of been itching to get myself back to a slot machine so I can brush up on my poker skills. I’ve been looking around for sites that will help me improve on my poker strategy so that the next time I go to Mohegan Sun or even Atlantic City, I’ll have a better grasp on the uber nifty game of Texas Hold’em. The last time I played I did pretty well but as usual when playing I found myself losing more money than it was worth.

So now, I’m looking for ways to help me improve on my skills. I came across this site that offers free poker information on how to play the game. I think it’s a good idea for anyone looking to pick up a card game or two when they’re floating around a casino. Don’t get me wrong, I love my slot machines – star, star, cherry – but this doesn’t mean I’m not addicted to cards either.

I recently purchased a hand-held Texas Hold’em player so that I can figure out what-beats-what without my having to lose any real money. I think that it’ll be a good thing for me considering I intend to get myself up to a casino sometime within the next couple of months. I believe Christie is going to be meeting up with me and the boyfriend, we’re ‘talking’ about heading up there for our six month anniversary. Who knows what’ll happen. Loads of fun to be had at Mohegan Sun.
