Corporate America

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

It’s been a busy week, I’ve been working on a lot of scholarship essays. I’ve had a client or two come in to pick up business. I’m waiting, almost too patiently, for a few clients to pay up. It’s to the point now of being beyond absurd. One client used to contact me 3 times a day for the last 4 months of working on their project. The minute I send the bill he’s magically MIA. I believe this is the same thing going on with another girl but I’m not too sure on that yet it’s only been a week since I’ve last heard from her. Either way it’s a headache, I have bills to pay too, ya know?

My sister recently applied for a job at a local pharmacy, they called her back and now she just has to take a drug test and then she’s got the job. The problem I have with this company – already – is the fact that when she applied two months ago and listed herself as a Caucasian, she wasn’t called back. She listed herself as a Hispanic and they called her back. I personally see it as a lawsuit, she just sees it as an excuse for benefits. The problem is the fact that I based on what I already know about this store, they won’t honor her benefits anyway. A friend of mine has been there for six months. The first three months he was doing a solid 40 hour week and then magically, the week before he was going to apply for benefits, they dropped his hours and didn’t honor the past 3 months worth of work. But I guess that’s corporate America for you.

She told me to apply for their photo department because they need a day shift, and thanks to my CVS employment I’m certified in Osha so that should be an easy job for me. I just refuse to take it. I shouldn’t have to list myself as anything other than Caucasian just to get a dead end job.

In other news….the PayPerPost team recently stormed “The Today Show” with an absolutely fantastic display of Guerilla Marketing. Unfortunately I didn’t see the show but watching the footage of the show was enough for me to absolutely love these guys even more. I swear other than Newegg this is the only company that I’ll fully support until the day I/it dies! They’re the kind of company that knows exactly what needs to be done in order to get their names out there. If a trip to NY is what it takes to gain exposure, then they’re doing exactly the right thing. In agreement with a comment posted on the entry…yes all the PPP girls are hot, I don’t swing that way but get me drunk enough and I just might. And a note to the boyfriend…you can stop drooling now, if it ever did happen you couldn’t be in the room :nudge:

AGn Listings is officially open for business. Please head over and submit your site. It’s opened a little over a week sooner than I thought it was going to be, but I was in the mood to get things done today so that’s that…heh.

I’ve submitted two scholarship essays sofar, I’m currently working on a third so it’s got me a little busy. When I’m done on this third one I’ll go back to working on finishing the new template for AGn Solutions hopefully I’ll have that up soon.

For now…my ass hurts from sitting here for the last two hours so I’m going to walk around a bit and then have some dinner.

Repetative

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

I know I’ve repeated myself excessively but are any of you taking advantage of the fact that you can get paid to advertise on blogs? I’ve been paid over $50 from this company and I’ve come across their company blog. Fellow posties for PayPerPost.com have quite a bit to say about how they’ve been paid to advertise on their blogs. What’s really cool about this program is as of today the top earner for this company has made $1,438.21. That’s quite a bit of cash made just to blog.

If you’re at all interested in making a profit like that off your blog, sign up to payperpost.com, use krissyville@gmail.com as your referral…k?

If they like you enough you can be one of their featured payperposters and be featured on their main blog for even more hits to your site. I’d say that’s an even trade, no?

Edit: Speak of the devil, I just got an email informing me that I’m one of the next featured bloggers YIPPIE!! /Edit

Yea…ok

So some asshole went out of their way to comment on my site letting me know that they were the one who ‘reported me to Google’. I’m also going to assume that they’ve gone out of their way to get my adster.com account cancelled as well. I’m anxiously waiting to see what kind of shit they pull with my adbrite account. It’s amusing that they even mentioned adbrite considering adbrite isn’t even listed ON krissy.nu, nor has it been for a good TWO WEEKS now. It’s good to know that you’ve made it your mission to get my accounts removed but I definitely have to say amused at the fact that you’ve also gone out of your way to avoid using a real name, let alone a real email address…chicken shit much?

It’s quite simple really. If you have a problem with me, take it up with me personally. The JOKE through all this is the fact that I never made any physical cash off of any of these sites, so your behavior hasn’t effected me at all. Sure, there was money in the accounts but I was no where near cash-out range anyway so I haven’t lost anything. Boohoo, I had to edit my template to remove links…I swear I’m crying over it.

Moving right along…

I’ve spent the last few days writing up essays for scholarships, I’m still working on grants and I’m going to change myself over from part time to full time, so I think agn is going to be put on the back burner for a little while. I’ll be around to setup everything that needs to be setup, design will be turned from full time to part time though. Business is slow anyway so it’s not like that’s really going to change.

I’ve been having a pretty shitty day, mainly agitation though. Bella isn’t cooperating with me, the wind was getting annoying and my cell phone is acting up. It’s a new battery so I’m not sure why it’s dying as frequently as it is, but it’s on the charger now, so I really couldn’t give a shit. I spent a good three hours on the phone with a client this afternoon and that’s just a headache in itself considering I hate being on the phone. They’re still undecided as to what they actually want so I was given ‘free range’ to do as I please as long as it’s a presentable two column layout. Should be easy enough considering it takes five minutes to code a two column layout , whether it be tables or CSS based…doesn’t matter too much.

I just sent my sister to the store for me, I haven’t done any grocery shopping out of the fact that I just didn’t feel like it. Considering, whether I go shopping or not, everyone else seems to find something to eat out of the house I figured I’d just have her pick up a few things for me for the rest of the week.

In other news, it’s Sean’s birthday tomorrow so go wish him a Happy Birthday. AGn Listings is slowly coming along, I just have a few more image codes to create, and I’m working on finishing up a template I started for AGn Solutions so that I can have that up and running by October. After that, there really isn’t anything going on.

Anal Rententive Much??

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

Anyone who knows me in person, or even through regular conversation, know that I’m anal retentive about dishes being in the sink. Even if I’m in someone else’s home I have to sit on my hands to stop myself from doing the dishes. I knew this was a pretty bad trait (well…not totally) but I also didn’t know that there’s a huge chance of it getting WORSE with time.

Today I found myself getting really excited when I opened up a package of new sponges. I looked for an excuse to do some dishes, even though there weren’t any in the sink. While unloading the dishwasher, I noticed a few plates with streaks and I went out of my way to hand-wash them until they sparkled.

I really need a hobby. This one is even starting to sound stupid as hell to me!

I did a lot of cleaning today. I’m waiting (almost too patiently) on responses from a few clients so since I had nothing else to do I decided that while I was taking a break from searching for scholarships, I was going to just clean house. I vacuumed, I dusted, I did the laundry and I even gave Bella a bath, even though she didn’t need one. I was just ITCHING to find something to do.

I could always work on ‘personal site’ based shit, but it’s really not worth it. I’m going to be reopening AGn Listings in a few weeks, I’m considering bringing the cam portals back but I honestly don’t think those are ‘the thing’ anymore, who knows. I’m also considering bringing back the review site but I don’t think that one is actually going to happen, too much time involved and there weren’t ever really any sites worth reviewing. Sure there were a few good ones but the rest were over-the-top teeny bopper ones that got annoying. The Mobile Meme has been dead since July but I think I’m going to redo it and make it a little more ‘interactive’. Maybe instead of topic ideas for posts I’ll just come up with a question a week or something like that…I don’t know.

It’s a little after midnight. The boyfriend is asleep because he has work in the morning, Bella’s knocked out and as usual there’s nothing on TV. I think I’m going to float around through my bookmarks and do a quick clean out of the links that aren’t of any use to me anymore. I have like 300+ bookmarks and I don’t think I’ve visited ANY of them since they were originally bookmarked.

I guess the cleaning just never ends for me, huh?

Adsense = SCAM!

Monday, September 18th, 2006

There are quite a few ways to make money online. The two big ones that do actually pay you for what you do are AdSense and PayPerPost.com. As some of you know, I had Adsense on my blog for a while. Someone decided to be a bitch and continuously click the links knowing damn well that my account was going to be booted. I was in the $400-$500 range with Adsense when Google banned my account telling me that too many clicks came from the same IP address, and then a whole crap load of other shit that I didn’t care to read. I removed these banners and then switched over to Adbrite, which I’ve only made like $8 from, so they’re basically useless to me as well.

PayPerPost.com has actually given me everything they said they would. So far I’ve been paid over $40 and still have another chunk coming to me in upcoming weeks. I think it’d be a safer bet to go with PayPerPost.com to be honest. There are more than enough topics to choose from and there are members whom have made around $900 with PayPerPost.com. It’s my goal to get up into that range so that I can pay for a semester at Penn Foster, I’ve been saving every bit of money that PayPerPost.com has sent me.

I’m to a point now where I’m going to recommend that you not use Google ads on personal websites. Google is a bastard when it comes to banning accounts. You have to stay under certain percentages and then there’s a whole series of writes and re-writes in their rules that just make no damn sense. They’ll easily ban accounts for not ‘following rules’ which is understandable but they still make a percentage for every click that someone makes through the advertisers links. They’re honestly just like Freepay, I’m waiting for Google to buy them out too…they already desecrated all over blogger.com when they made that purchase. Any blogger.com/blogspot.com users know that the site has drastically gone downhill since Google got their paws on them. They get paid for every click, every referral sign up, the works. There are alot of sites right now that list Adsense as a complete scam, it’s true!

Stick with PayPerPost.com they’ll pay you when they say they’re going to pay you. There are plenty of opportunities and a mass list of sites for you to poke through when you’re looking for something to blog about. Highly recommended, and probably the ONLY pay-to-blog program that will ever be recommended by me.

The Life Updates

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

I’ve gotten a few emails over the last few weeks asking where I’ve been and why I haven’t been around. My only real answer to these questions is the fact that I’ve just been too busy to care about signing onto AIM and listening to people bitch and moan about every little thing. Yes, not all of you do this, nor am I singling anyone out with this.

The past 6 months have been extremely hard on me and very few people understand this. My main focus in life right now is work. I have valid reasoning behind this though. The only way to get out of a shitty situation is to tough it out for as long as you can and scrape and save everywhere you can. By the time I’m done saving up all the money I need I’ll be moving out of here. Right now, however, my plans have seriously been delayed.

After talking to a rep from Penn Foster College I’m now going full speed ahead with four associates degrees. They are:

– Graphics Design
– Internet Technology w/ an Option in E-Commerce Administration
– Internet Technology w/ an Option in Multimedia and Design
– Internet Technology w/ an Option in Web Programming

There are a few job offers that have been kicked my way over the course of the last two years that I’ve had to turn down because I do not have a degree in anything that I currently do. Each semester for these courses is around $900, there are four semesters for each course as well. In total for each semester and each course factored in, I need about $16,000. Oddly enough this is still cheaper than ONE year at Briarcliff and I can get everything that I’ve wanted in the process.

I’m balancing clients, I’m tutoring and I’m also working on a part time job at a local store. With this I’ll also be looking into Financial Aid and Student Loans. By the time everything has worked itself out I hope to have about $20,000. This will cover school and some ‘fixing’ around my room. I’m going to purchase a new desktop which will only run me about $750 and then upgrade my desk so that I have a lot more surface area to work on. So yea, that’s why I’ve been busy…sue me.

The block party on Saturday turned out fairly well. The family met the boyfriend and things went well. I had a little bit more to drink than I thought I was going to but I was completely coherent so I guess that doesn’t matter very much. I spent the weekend with the boyfriend because I missed him and he stayed here over night on Saturday. I didn’t get much sleep because we went out to breakfast and then I met his family. His aunt is really awesome though so I had a good time. That basically covered my weekend.

By Monday it was ‘back to work’ for me though. I’ve been busy ever since. On Tuesday, I brought Bella to the groomer, she’s no longer a big fur ball, she’s down to a skinny little shit that takes up a lot less room than she did before. I think I got about 3 hours of sleep on Monday night so bringing her to the groomer EARLY Tuesday morning wasn’t fun. For some reason, however, last night I completely crashed at 3 and didn’t wake up until 2 this afternoon which is screwing me up because I’ve lost a good half of days work that I had to very quickly make up.

I logged into my Digital Camera account with Freepay yesterday to find that they’ve FINALLY updated my status. My order has been placed with the Vendor and I’ll soon receive shipping information when everything has gone through. Considering how long it took them to send me the camera I’m damn sure that when it does actually show up, something will be broken on it. To refresh memories, I’m getting the Olympus SP-350, so I’m sure I’ll have pictures when it shows up. I know that Freepay is a legit company but I’m still not going to recommend that anyone looking for free stuff goes through them. The only ‘freebie’ company that I’ll ever recommend to anyone is Offer Centric.

October is going to be a busy birthday month for me. I’m going to be taking a week’s vacation with the boyfriend and then the following week I’m going up to the Casino with my father for my birthday. Maybe I’ll get lucky on a couple slot machines and won’t need to get a student loan so I don’t have to worry about paying back the interest heh.

In any event, there was my long drawn out ‘personal post’. Don’t expect to see another one for quite some time out of me.

Ever hear of TOO FAR!?

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

There are a lot of people whom have blogged about Steve Irwin’s death last week. My only comment on it is that he died doing exactly what he loved and he has every right in the world to rest in peace because even though I never met the guy, he gave everything he had to wild life conservation and I don’t believe in any way shape or form that he would have wished to pass on any other way.

Recently, however, I came across an article that has me completely disgusted and has also fully supported my theory about people being useless assholes.

Backlash Against Stingrays Since Irwin’s Death

SYDNEY, Australia (Sept. 12) – At least 10 stingrays have been killed since “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin was fatally injured by one of the fish, an official said Tuesday, prompting a spokesman for the late TV star’s animal charity to urge people not take revenge on the animals.

From what I’ve read about stingrays over the years, they are mellow animals whom keep to themselves most of the time. They are dangerous, I will not deny this but it’s danger that’s always caused by an outside source. You can swim with these animals, you can full on pet these animals. The dangerous part of them is their tail, and only their tail. They only react if they’re stepped on or frightened in any way shape or form.

So why is it that one (or more) people has the bright idea that mutilating and/or killing these animals is right? Am I wrong for thinking that if I ever saw someone doing this I would go out of my way to chop their ‘tails’ off?

Steve Irwin lived a life of ‘danger’ with the animals that he’s come in contact with over the years. He’d never once harm an animal even if he were harmed by it. So why is it all of a sudden okay to completely overlook all of the work he’s done just because you’re ‘shaken’ into thinking that you’ll at some point in time fill the ‘quota of revenge’ because of this.

I’ve lost all faith in humanity, not that I had much to begin with but I think this is exactly what just put it over the edge.

Business Cards

Saturday, September 9th, 2006

Lately business has been going very well but there’s always something going on in the back of my mind where I wonder just how I could pick up a bit more business. Sure, the money that’s coming in now is nice, don’t get me wrong, but once bills are taken care of that takes about 90% of the money I make during the month. I’d really like to get to a point where it’s more like 40%-50%.

I’ve posted up flyers at a few places in the area but it hasn’t really done much. I know that a few months back Christie posted some up around her school for me, but that didn’t bring anything in at all. I’ve been considering other means and I came across a site that offered free business cards. I checked them out and I think they’re a very good resource for free business cards.

In the process of surfing the site for free business cards, I noticed that it was basically a ‘how-to’ site to creating your own. The cool thing is they also help you in regards to how to get your business OUT THERE. Giving you quirky tips and tricks to get the job done. I think I’d recommend this site to anyone looking for creative uses for cards or just free business cards in general. Too bad they don’t actually give you free business cards but that’s ok because their site really helps you out in general, so I guess that’s all that matters.

Blockparty!

Saturday, September 9th, 2006

Right now I’m waiting on a phone call and then hopping in the shower. I’m going to my mothers block party tonight. I know you’re sitting there like “mother? what?” but I’m really going for the rest of the family that will be there. I haven’t seen my aunt since Christmas (she’s also my god mother). And I barely speak to my grandmother anymore. She’s getting up in her years and now is dealing with some nasty arthritis so I’m basically trying to get involved as much as I can over time, you know?

This is probably the reason that’s going to delay my moving out of NY as I’d originally planned. First I was staying for my father because I don’t want to be HOURS away from ‘home’ in case something, god forbid, ever happened to him. The same thing goes for my grandparents right now because they’re really the only ones I’ve ever had. My dad’s mother died when I was 8 and I wasn’t very close to her, and I never met his father because he died when my father was 17.

In any event, I’m going to grab the phone and head outside for a quick cig. Later all!

Camera Woes

Saturday, September 9th, 2006

I’m still quite a bit pissed off in regards to Freepay taking their sweet time in order to give me my camera. I’m very close to filing a suit against them for fraud considering they were paid by the 15 people that I referred, including myself considering I had to complete three offers before they accepted ONE of them.

Because of this, however, I’ve been looking for Digital Cameras from PCWorld. I’ve found quite a few that I’m interested in. When I do ever get to the point of purchasing a new camera, I’m going to skip all the useless tiny digital shit and go straight to a SLR. I’ve found a few that are 8+ megapixels with everything I could ever dream of, camera wise.

Now, normally I would get a standard 35mm camera from Nikon with black/white film and then develop it myself, like I did in high school. The problem now is the fact that I don’t have a dark room to do any of this stuff in so that kind of screws me up right there. I would kill to have a dark room again so that I could step away from the digital world.

What some people don’t realize with digital cameras is the fact that in order to get the same quality of a 35mm you need to buy a camera that’s 6+ megapixels. Sure, if you’re just taking random small pictures it doesn’t really matter but photography wise, you’d need something ‘high up’ in order to get the same quality.

I just hope that everything straightens itself out.

Playing dirty…

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

Have you ever watched a game on TV (of any contact sport) and wanted to just hop through the screen onto the field and beat down someone on the opposing team because of either a useless call or someone just playing dirty? Well…someone actually turned that bad thought into reality.

Cory Petero, 36, of Riverbank, turned himself in to Stockton police Saturday night following what witnesses described as a late hit that turned into a brawl, with parents and children from both teams fighting on the field.

You can find the entire article on AOL Sports News

I’m normally a confrontational person and yes, I have my moments of rage where I’ll throw up and hit someone, this is just how I am. I will never bring myself to this point unless someone has completely crossed the line. But, no matter who it is, I would never lay my hands on a child in a manor of causing severe harm. Especially if it’s based on something as stupid as a football mishap. Sure, there have been kids that I’ve looked at and wondered why their parents never cracked them on the ass, but to intentionally go out of my way to bruise a child’s stomach and jaw is beyond absurd.

Based on reports, there were no major injuries suffered by anyone. But…am I wrong for thinking that this 36 year-old man should be beaten senseless? Am I wrong to think that someone should just sneak up on this guy and beat the living hell out of him? I truly believe that the only reason the injuries were minor was based entirely on the fact that this child was wearing a good 20lbs of football equipment when it happened. How much damage could this guy have done if it were a soccer game and the only ‘protection’ this child was wearing was a jockstrap/cup?

There are plenty of other ways to get rid of rage, even if it’s based on a child playing dirty. I’ve seen dedicated coaches before but this man truly crossed the line the minute he laid his hands on this boy. I’m sure I would feel differently if they were closer to the same age but there is a good 23 year age difference between these parties, that instantly brings up a red-flag for me. Whether the child was covered in protective gear or not, it still doesn’t make a difference.

I’d personally shoot the bastard for this, but that’s because of my own pent up rage. I know too many people who were abused by parents either sexually or just being smacked around in general and if I had a bullet for each one of them, I’d use it. This guy would definitely be included. Part of me wonders if he could do this to someone elses child, what has he done to his own son for doing something wrong?

So my question to you is this:

If you were witness to this, what would YOU do?

I need space!

Monday, September 4th, 2006

I’ve owned my laptop for about four and a half months now and I’ve made the mistake of not up keeping it the way I did my desktop. I turned it on today and experienced a lag that I’ve never had before. So, for the last few hours, I’ve cleaned everything out and ran a defrag. It’s worked but not sure how long it’s going to last. Because of this lag, I wasn’t able to start on ANY work yet, but I will when I’m done posting.

My real problem is the fact that I’m slowly running out of disk space. The money isn’t coming in fast enough to reach my goal of buying a desktop but I do still have a spare 120gb hard drive so I’m going to need to swallow hard and dip into savings to get my external hard drive enclosure. It isn’t going to cost me much money at all, I just wanted to leave the money where it is until I can just get the desktop. I figure if I can move everything to the external drive, I’ll be able to regain about 30gb’s of space back on my laptop which will even things out.

I’ve decided to just use my laptop for the programs and then as far as files go, put everything onto the external drive (minus my daily based files of course). I figure it’ll work to my advantage and the $30 will be worth it in the end.

Dad caught me looking at laptop skins this past week and offered to buy one for me as a ‘graduation gift’ because my diploma will be coming soon. I don’t think I’m going to take him up on it though. The offer was really nice, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t wish for him to waste money on something like skinning a $1500 machine, you know? The skins are only like $20 but he’s been pulling double shifts for the last two weeks, I’m not going to sit here and accept something that’s a useless purchase. There are quite a few other purchases to be made that will honor everyone in the house and unlike my sister, I’m not going to be selfish about money that isn’t even mine. She’ll gladly accept whatever he throws her way, she usually demands it first anyway.

If I do ever get a skin, I’ll obviously be purchasing it myself. Right now I’m basically set on the one I’m going to buy though, this one is ‘retro’ and I’m downright digging the Lime green. For some reason I like the bright colored skins so I’m going to go with it. My second choice would be this one in the pink. Now, I normally don’t like pink but considering the green shade that’s being used I figure it’d be better to look at something else. I refuse to own a red laptop and there’s no point in black considering 90% of the laptop is black to begin with.

It’s about 3PM and I’ve been up since 12:30, I’m not sure why my cell phone went off at 12:30 but oh well. It’s been a nice quiet labor day. I plan on BBQ’ing later tonight but not sure if that’s actually going to happen. I have everything in the house, I just don’t really have the drive for it. I’m not in the mood to scrape down the grill, hope the charcoal that’s still in the bag from last year is still good and then have my pyro tendencies to kick in and wind up burning something down.

I think I’m going to turn on USA and continue with my Law & Order : SVU marathon until about 7 when the That 70’s Show marathon kicks in on FX. Yep, I’m easy to please. On a big bright note, Nip/Tuck starts on Tuesday night and I absolutely can not wait for it. I’ve already let it known that I won’t be around from 10pm-11pm on Tuesday nights until further notice. I’m too big of a fan to just not drop everything and watch. It’s really the only series I look forward to considering there isn’t anything of interest on television anymore, for me at least.

Bite me.

Sunday, September 3rd, 2006

I don’t really have much going on to make this a ‘worth while’ update. I can say this though… I was paid by PayPerPost.com. For those of you who tried to convince me that the company was a scam, you can kindly bend over and eat shit.

My past week has consisted of playing ‘mommy’, trying to balance 10 accounts (and failing), cleaning the house, taking extra care of Bella because she hasn’t been feeling well, stopping a potential ‘smack down’, meeting a friends new boyfriend and then just a whole series of shit that basically ads up to nothing; to be blunt of course.

“Ernesto” hit late last night and all day today. I have to say that I’m extremely disappointed. Everyone for the last few days has been up in arms about a severe storm hitting us, blah, blah, blah, meanwhile it was just some wind and hardly enough rain to really do any damage what so ever. My rating for this supposed ‘big storm’ on a scale of 1-5 would have to be a -2; yep it sucked that much.

It’s about 1am, I’m ass deep in emails so I guess it’s time to get going. I’ll return all comments when I get the chance, it’s not that I’m ‘too busy’ to do it. I’m just honestly not in the mood to read other blogs at the moment, don’t take it personal – I just don’t have the drive for it.

Night all.

Myspace Sucks!

Monday, August 28th, 2006

Okay, so while I was doing some google searching today for jobs I came across a site in full dedication to the suckness that is Myspace.com. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this hard in my entire life.

myspacesucks.8m.com

The interesting thing about this site is the fact that they go out of their way to say exactly what you’re thinking in regards to myspace.com. I almost pee’d a little for laughing so hard…and yes, I’ll admit to that.

I do wish that their shop contained more than hats, tee’s and buttons. I’m considering emailing them and requesting cups, mouse pads and other goodies to really bring attention to the tragedy that is myspace.com

Go, read, comment with your thoughts, enjoy!
